We had the good fortune of connecting with Allie Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After my daughter left for college, I found myself in a place I hadn’t expected – filled with pride for her, but also the deep sense of loss and uncertainty about who I was without the daily role of being a mom. That turning point led me to life coaching, and eventually, to founding a business that would help other empty nest moms navigate the same emotional terrain. I didn’t want women to feel alone during this transition. I wanted to give them tools, encouragement, and a roadmap to rediscover themselves and create a fulfilling new chapter.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

My business, AllieHillCoaching, is dedicated to helping mid-life women, specifically empty nest moms navigate one of the most emotionally complex transitions of their lives. When the kids leave home, it can feel like your identity walked out the door with them. My coaching programs, book, The Girlfriends’ Guide to Empty Nesting, and Keynote talks, provide practical tools, emotional support, and real life inspiration to help women rediscover their voice, purpose, and create a new focus in order enjoy in this new chapter.

What sets me apart is that I speak directly from experience. I’ve lived through the confusion, grief, and “what now?“ questions. I don’t offer a quick fix – I offer a roadmap, a sense of community, and a reminder that this isn’t the end… It’s just a different kind of beginning. My work combines life-coaching, storytelling, humor, and heartfelt connection in a way that resonates deeply with women who are used to putting everyone else first.

I am most proud of the messages I get every week from women who say, “I finally feel seen. I didn’t know how much I needed this..” That is the heartbeat of my business – making women feel like they are not alone, and that it’s never too late to dream again.

Getting here wasn’t easy. I had to wrestle with self-doubt, fear of starting something new in midlife, and the voice in my head that said, “who are you to do this?” But I leaned into my support, stayed curious, and took one brave step at a time. I learned that clarity comes from action, not overthinking – and that the more authentic I was, the more people were drawn to me and my message.

What I want the world to know is this: you don’t have to have it all figured out to start again. You just have to be willing to listen to that quiet voice inside you that says, “there’s more for you.” My brand is about, celebrating where you’ve been, and being open to the possibilities of what life may have to offer you in the future. I love helping women remember that they matter NOW, just as much as ever.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Oh, I love playing tour guide—especially in Denver, where there’s the perfect mix of nature, culture, and amazing food. Here’s my dream week-long itinerary for showing a best friend the very best of the Mile High City (and a little beyond):

Day 1: Welcome to Denver
Pick up at the airport with a latte from Huckleberry Roasters. Drop bags at The Clayton Hotel in Cherry Creek—chic, walkable, and full of local charm. Early dinner at Quality Italian on the rooftop, followed by a nightcap at Room for Milly, a gorgeous cocktail bar with vintage flair.

Day 2: Art + Shopping + Spa
Start with a walk through the RiNo Art District—murals, galleries, and warehouse vibes. Coffee at Crema, then boutique hopping at Modern Nomad and Goldmine Vintage. Afternoon recharge at The Oxford Spa, then dinner at Tavernetta with views of Union Station.

Day 3: Mountain Day Trip: Let’s take a full-day getaway to one of Colorado’s most iconic mountain towns—Aspen or Vail. Both are stunning year-round and feel like stepping into a chic alpine postcard.

If we head to Aspen:
Leave early and grab coffee for the road at Aviano in Cherry Creek. Arrive in Aspen and stroll the cobblestone streets downtown. We’ll pop into Kemo Sabe for high-end Western flair and The Little Nell for a glass of champagne or an early lunch at Ajax Tavern. If we’re in the mood to move, we’ll hike Smuggler Mountain or take the Silver Queen Gondola for panoramic views. A quick browse at Pitkin County Dry Goods, then maybe a spa treatment at Remède Spa before heading back to Denver.

If we choose Vail:
Start with brunch at Vintage, then walk through the European-style Vail Village. Browse Gorsuch for mountain chic apparel, or take the Eagle Bahn Gondola up for a short alpine hike or scenic lunch at The 10th. On the way back, stop at Yeti’s Grind in Edwards for a cozy latte and sweet treat.

Either way, we’ll be surrounded by mountain magic, fresh air, and beauty. It’s a soul-refreshing day and a total highlight of the week.

Day 4: Foodie + Fun
Brunch at Snooze, shopping and strolling in Cherry Creek North, then a cooking class or tasting tour with Denver Local Tours. Dinner at Annette in Stanley Marketplace—so cozy and elevated. If we’re feeling adventurous, late-night dancing or live music at Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox.

Day 5: Chill + Culture
Morning paddleboarding at Sloan’s Lake, smoothie bowl at Whole Sol, and an afternoon visit to the Denver Art Museum. Early dinner and people-watching at El Five—best Mediterranean tapas and killer skyline views.

Day 6: Red Rocks & Stars
Breakfast burritos from Santiago’s (a must!), then head to Red Rocks Amphitheatre—whether for a hike, yoga on the rocks, or a concert under the stars. On the way back, dinner at The Fort in Morrison for a historic Colorado experience.

Day 7: Sunday Reset
Wrap up with brunch at Root Down, a visit to The Denver Botanic Gardens, and a final glass of wine on the patio Le Bilbouquet. Maybe a stop at Tattered Cover Bookstore to pick up something meaningful for the plane ride home.

Denver has a little bit of everything—laid-back luxury, wild beauty, and a creative heartbeat. That’s what makes it such a special place to live and visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

Absolutely – I wouldn’t be where I am today without the unwavering support and love from so many important people in my life. First and foremost, my husband and daughter, Jim & Izzy, they have been my biggest cheerleaders. Their belief in me gave me the courage to step into something new, even when I was filled with doubt.

I also want to recognize my close circle of girlfriends – those lifelong friends and new soul sisters, who remind me who I am when I started to forget. They encouraged me to write the book, launch the podcast and share my story.

A big thank you to the mentors and coaches who pushed me beyond my comfort zone and helped me to see that it is never too late to start again. Their guidance gave structure to my dreams and help me bring them to life..

And finally, to my empty nest community. This amazing group of 25K plus mamas have taught me so much in these last five years and given my life a focus and calling.- I am deeply grateful to each and everyone of them.

It truly takes a village – not just to raise a child but to rise again as a woman in this new season of life.
