Meet Allison Hall | Money Mentor & Nurse

We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Allison, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When i was paying down my debt, i actually never sought out to start a business. I just wanted to share my journey paying off my student loans. During that time, i used a few different methods and realized that there were so many pieces missing when it comes to personal finance. So many ways teach you how to get out of debt, but what about the habits you need to create to stay out of debt and make lasting change, What about the reasons why you spend, why youve accumulated debt and any trauma surrounding money. I wanted to create something different and it started with my own habits and relationship with money.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner/ founder of the debt free nurse. My website and social media provides tons of free resources for paying down debt, money management and financial education without sacrificing the things you love. I also offer paid courses, webinars and workbooks.
I am most proud of buying my own house as a single woman after a divorce. My divorce was so tough and it really made me realize why i teach this to others because you can never depend on anyone and you have to make your own decisions with your money.
I started my business in 2019 and a few months later started offering group coaching. I spent two years doing that until i went through a divorce and i took a step back from coaching. Now i still offer 1:1 coaching, but its easier to manage then group coaching. Starting a business was not easy, as a nurse, i knew nothing about how to start or manage a business, but i wanted to help others and my services were needed.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First id take them to my favorite workout class madabolic in downtown and then dix park to walk around. For coffee id head to omies cofffee in durham and downtown durham for dinner and drinks. One of my favorite places is alley 26 and king fisher for drinks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Id like to thank every mentor i’ve had when it comes to starting a business and learning along the way. We are not self made we are the sum of the people that come before us.
