We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Mae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Allison, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I’d say the most important factor behind the success of my brand is being extremely service oriented. I want my clients to feel like they’re valued, understood, and well taken care of. Timely responses to inquiries, proactive communication, meeting deadlines, and treating my clients (both two and four-legged) with kindness and empathy has been key.
As a professional photographer, providing emotive, high-quality imagery is of course always of the utmost importance, but to me, my job extends beyond that. I want clients to walk away from their time with me not only thrilled with their images, but thrilled with the experience they shared with their pet as well.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets my work apart comes down to two things. The first is collaboration. I’m passionate about collaborating with my clients. Listening to them share what they love most about their pets, and then incorporating their favorite activities into their session (whether that’s simply hanging out at home or going for a hike), working with clients in this way allows me to create photographs that are highly personal and unique.
The second is preparation. I’ve found that by walking my clients through the entire process before they even show up to their session goes a long way in creating an enjoyable experience. When people are enjoying themselves, their pets are as well. And when everyone is happy–that’s when the magic happens!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Colorado’s so amazing it’s hard to narrow it down. There are a ton of fantastic places and things to do where I live near Boulder. Visits to dog-friendly patios and breweries like Upslope, Sanitas and Avery would be a must. And then hiking some of my favorite dog-friendly trails in the Indian Peaks Wilderness.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely to all of my incredible clients. Getting to know and serve other pet owners is the best part of my job. I don’t know how I got so lucky, but I’ve had the good fortune to have worked with the world’s coolest, sweetest clients. There are no words to express how deeply grateful I am for each and every one of them
