We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Moran and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Allison, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is the only option if you want to create your dream life or career. I’ve learned that no one is going to make your dreams happen for you. This isn’t due to a lack of caring, it is simply due to the fact that other people don’t know your dreams as well as you do. The most terrifying risk that I took in 2020 was starting a YouTube channel for my company. The channel is called DynoSoar Life, and I am incredibly proud of it. Go take a look at my first videos. They are not nearly as high quality as the recent uploads. But, how could I get to where I am at now without those first videos? Risk taking is a part of the process. Once we accept the process we can start focusing on where the risks are leading us.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My company is called DynoSoar Life. I was inspired to start my company while I was undergoing chemo treatments for breast cancer. I was only 27 years old, and I was so scared that chemo would prevent me from living my life to the fullest. So I created a journal template that tracked my hydration, exercise, medications, thoughts, and more. This template saved me! During chemo I graduated, got married, set a personal record as an athlete, and went on a road trip. Now, I sell My Chemo Journal so that other cancer warriors can find health and joy during treatment. Every time I get an order it is a mix of sorrow and excitement. I truly feel a connection to each warrior that holds My Chemo Journal. I am currently in the process of expanding my business outside of the topic of cancer. On my YouTube channel I lead journal sessions on self-discovery and reflection. I am having a blast! On the channel you will find content that educates and motivates. That education piece is very important to me. My audience is made up of intelligent people treating themselves to self-discovery and self-care. My process starts with the belief that you are a gift to this world. I want you to thrive so that your gifts can be shared.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day 1: Grab a drink at Wash Perk Coffee. Then play volleyball at Wash Park. Day 2: Get up early to hike the Incline in Colorado Springs. Then spend the rest of the day sore. Grab ice cream at Sweet Cow. Day 3: Walk around the Science Museum. Definitely go to the rock exhibit. Have a picnic at City Park. Day 4: Shop at Wilderness Exchange. Then spend the day rock climbing at Staunton State Park. Day 5: Stroll the 16th Street Mall. Dinner at City O’ City (get the savory waffle). Then stand on the mile high point at the capitol.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I highly recommend the book You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero. It is really difficult to take risks without also experiencing doubt. Whenever I start to doubt myself I open this book. Jen always reminds me that I am a badass. My dreams (and your dreams) are achievable when we have the confidence to give it our all.
