We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison White and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Allison, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my support team. I truly believe that behind every successful woman is a great support network. I have the most incredible fiancé that supports every dream or passion that I pursue. I have the best parents and sisters that push me to be the best version of myself every day and are my biggest cheerleaders. And I have the best friends who purchase from my Etsy shop, share my blog posts on their social media, and comment and engage in my posts. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. A lot of hard-work, sweat and tears goes into every blog post I write, picture I take, new product I launch or trip I plan and so to have a group of people around me that support that is priceless.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Look About Allie is a blog that focus’s on realistic travel, and that is really what I pride myself on showing to my readers. I get asked all the time how much PTO I have or how I am able to travel so much and it’s really simple. I truly believe travel and new experiences shouldn’t be dreamt about as “someday” but should instead be something that’s part of your everyday life. A weekend trip to a city a few hours away is still travel, you don’t need to hop on a plane for it to be considered a vacation. Take a day trip to a neighboring city or a weekend trip a drive away. You don’t have to spend a ton of money to enjoy traveling to a new place. I hope my experiences inspire my readers to find the hidden gems in their very own small town or book that next flight…all while on a budget and working full time!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Denver is an incredible city that I have fallen in love with. I have a ton of great itineraries on my blog for Denver and the surrounding cities but I’ve put together an itinerary of Denver to see the best places, eat the best food and take the best hikes here. Friday: Arrive and explore 16th street mall, there is great free transportation up and down the mall. Great shops and restaurants! Saturday: Go to Red Rocks Amphitheater and explore inside and around, there are some great hiking trails in and around Red Rocks. For dinner tonight head to Blue Pan Pizza in the West Highlands. It is Detroit-style pizza and a must stop. Sunday: Looking for a great bottomless brunch? Go to Tamayo in Larimer Square and if the weather is nice, sit up on the rooftop. It’s amazing food and the bottomless margaritas with brunch are incredible! After brunch, walk around Larimer Square, there are some great local shops here and don’t forget to look up and count how many cats you see! Monday: Time to explore my personal favorite, The Dairy Block! The Dairy Block is the perfect photo opportunity with glass milk jugs strung in the air and the most incredible shops and boutiques. Eat at the Milk Market, there are so many options for food and dessert! Tuesday: Up for a little road trip? Drive about 1.5 hours West to Breckenridge for a day trip! Depending on the weather you can ski or hike. Walk around the downtown checkout all the incredible shops, restaurants, breweries and art galleries. I have an entire section on my blog for Breck that you should checkout, but here are a few of my favorites: Short hike to see the troll Isak Heartstone, crepes at Crepes A La Cart, ride the gondola to the top (dogs are allowed!), and so much more! Wednesday: Explore Golden, Arvada, or Longmont. These are a few of my favorite cities to explore around Denver. You can take the Brew Hop Trolley around Longmont to over 10 different local breweries or take the Coors tour in Golden. There is so much to see and do in each of these cities! Thursday: Up for one more road trip? Head down to Colorado Springs to visit Garden of the Gods. This free park has the most incredible hiking trails and views. Make sure to look up and watch the rock climbers! I have a ton of great resources on my blog for all of my favorite things to do around Colorado, check it out!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are several people in my life that deserve this shoutout. First, I would like to thank my fiancé for always encouraging me and inspiring me with his incredible dreams about travel and adventure. He’s also the amazing talent that edits my blog posts and takes my photos. Next, I would like to thank my Busia. She is where I get all of my creativity and artistic talent from. I grew up with her teaching me how to paint in her very own ceramics studio business, entrepreneurship runs in the family! She always was someone I looked up to when it came to hard work and determination. I would also like to thank my parents who have supported me along my journey and never gave up on my dreams. Finally, I would like to thank the Denver Blogger Community. They have helped me learn and grow so much in my blogging tactics and have become some of my very best friends.
