We had the good fortune of connecting with Alysha Dow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alysha, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
That as much as your friends and family love you, they will be the first to ask for free product and the last to support your business. They always mean well, but I have often found that when someone does something risky or non-traditional it makes the people closest to us the most nervous. Best thing you can do is not take it personal, and be thankful they don’t want to see you be a “starving artist.”

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a newly published author, I’d say what sets me apart is my personality. I always put kindness, and curiosity first. Being willing to learn about things I don’t know or understand, has really helped me find the best way to write and publish my first book. The combination has also helped me meet some really cool people, and gain a community of a few thousand friends/followers on both TikTok and Instagram in less than six months time. My journey definitely wasn’t easy. I spent most of my twenties so worried about what others thought, that I never did what made me happy. I’m thankful that I finally realized that no one knows what they are doing, just take the leap and work so hard that everything works out.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m quite the home body, but I would definitely take them to Ginger and Baker for dinner. We would also probably catch a show at the Comedy Fort, and spend a day in Estes walking around the shops.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, we are newly married, but have been together for a couple years, and he is always supporting my crazy ideas.
