Meet Alyssa Cavanaugh | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyssa Cavanaugh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alyssa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business is pretty simple–I deeply value schedule flexibility and having a proper work-life balance. I recognize my talent for visual storytelling and have found a niche need for my services in my community. It is very fulfilling for me to work for myself, and I love getting to help people in a way that uses my creativity.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Pursuing my photography from hobby to part-time freelancing has been one of the most challenging journey’s I’ve embarked on. And it’s been worth every second!
I think what sets me apart is my business background, along with my passion for holistic and alternative wellness. I’m also a certified yoga instructor, and practice energy work. I’m really able to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for my clients. When working with brands, I’m able to use my brand identity and marketing knowledge to capture the perfect set of photos depending on my client’s unique goals.
I’m most excited to continue growing, and to work with even more people and brands within the holistic wellness and spiritual entrepreneurship industry.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Dushanbe Tea House is always the first stop! From there, a walk down to the creek before grabbing dinner on Pearl Street. Some of my favorite shops on Pearl include Jones & Co, Boxcar Coffee, and Fiori!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, the restaurant industry. Most of my jobs have been as a server or barista, which allowed me the freedom to pursue photography on the side. It’s also been how I’ve gotten in contact with many of my clients, and how I spread my name via word of mouth. I’ve also met some of the most talented, hardworking people in the industry. Those connections have become invaluable.
