We had the good fortune of connecting with Alysse Scaturro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alysse, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Don’t let your to-do list overshadow your to-care list” – Adam Grant
As a business owner, it is easy to get caught up in all of the tasks and work that needs to be done. This quote is a great reminder to take a step back and make sure I am caring for the people who make up PetWellClinic. We are absolutely nothing without our hard-working leaders, vet assistants, and doctors. It is not always easy and I am still learning. This is something that I work on being intentional about every day.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At PetWellClinic we provide walk-in veterinarian care at an affordable cost and we are driven by our core values. We serve our community by innovating ways to provide high-quality veterinary care in a convenient manner. We deliver pet care with kindness by showing compassion and understanding of our client’s position without judgment. Growth is important to us as a company, as team members, and as part of our growing community. Openness not only describes the physical layout of our clinics but also characterizes the honest, transparent way we conduct ourselves. Service excellence and service to others in our community are key to why we exist.
I am excited to be able to bring PetWellClinic to Colorado. The demand for quality vet care is at an all-time high. We are still new and looking forward to the community learning that we are here to serve them. We are currently open in Arvada and Parker and coming later this summer to Edgewater.
10 years ago, I worked at the front desk of a fitness studio making minimum wage. I lived with my parents and had large amounts of credit card debt. If you would have told me then that I would be a business owner now, I would not have believed you. I love telling people my story because I want others in the same situation to know, that with hard work anything is possible! Over the course of 6 years, I was able to work my way up through management, was given the opportunity to learn the business side, and eventually became a business partner. I am proud of how far I have come and excited to help others achieve the same success by creating opportunities for our team!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love when friends visit and I can be a tour guide for Colorado! We would start by visiting Golden and grab dinner and drinks at the Tributary food hall. Golden is the picturesque Colorado town that friends who have never been to Colorado imagine. Next, we would head to Rocky Mountain National Park. I still can’t believe we have this beautiful park in our backyard! We would hike on the north side of the park where it’s a little less crowded, drive trail ridge road and end the day with a picnic! At some point, we would definitely go to Denver biscuit company for brunch, Ohana for poke bowls, and Lady Nomada for dinner. Of course, if they visit in the winter this trip would be spent skiing Keystone and Breckinridge or soaking at Iron Mountain hot springs in Glenwood Springs.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I 100% would not be where I am today without my support system and my team. This shoutout is dedicated to my parents, Jeff & Jackie, and my husband, Lou. They continue to show me every day what hard work and dedication look like.
There are a few key people who are part of my story and play a big role in where I am today. Thank you to Shawn Johnson for being a great boss and giving me a referral 10 years ago, that one phone call put my life on a trajectory I never could have imagined at the time. To Jay Thomas and Doug Birer, for taking a risk on me when I had little experience, for giving me many incredible opportunities, for teaching and mentoring me, and for showing me how to create a great work culture and community. Last but not least, my entire PetWellClinic team and a specific shoutout to Wendy and Kaige. They are the first two team members I hired and have done a tremendous amount of work to get our clinic open.
