We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Fuhrmann and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had dreamed of working for myself and creating content for years. I still remember a morning commute in 2017, listening to a podcast about entrepreneurship and all the benefits of running your own business. It lit a spark for me, but I ended up putting that dream on hold to focus on my career and volunteer work in Annapolis, Maryland.

In those early years, I truly enjoyed my job and the high energy of working at a startup company. Outside of work, I served on the executive board of the Live Water Foundation, volunteering with underserved youth and wounded veterans. We used standup paddleboarding as a way to build confidence, community, and healing – something I remain incredibly proud of. Additionally, I was studying business at the University of Maryland, earning my Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) at the end of 2022.

Over time, the culture at my corporate job began to shift. It no longer aligned with my values, and I started to feel the effects of burnout, which led me to develop my exit strategy. In 2023, I left the company I once thought I’d be with for many more years, took some time to travel, and then made the leap. I moved across the country to start anew, diving into freelancing and content creation full-time.

Like many others, burnout pushed me to reevaluate my path. Today, I feel more aligned and fulfilled than I have in the past decade, and I’m incredibly grateful for the chance to build something on my own.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Getting to where I am today has definitely been a journey – one filled with growth, hard lessons, and some tough but necessary realizations. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that a business is just that: a business. No matter how often the messaging frames it as “family,” it’s important to remember that your loyalty should start with yourself. Protecting your peace, your time, and your energy is not selfish, it’s essential.

I’m incredibly proud of the resilience I’ve built through adversity. Despite the challenges, I’ve maintained a positive outlook on life and continue to pour that optimism into the business I’m growing. I lead with authenticity and kindness. I draw from real-life experiences, a deep passion for wellness and sustainability, and a strong storytelling background to help brands connect meaningfully with their audience. I’m very inspired by nature and love to create my content in forests and near bodies of water.

My goal is to create content that not only performs, but resonates. I want people to feel something when they engage with the work I create. That’s the heart of my brand and my story.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My brother came to visit recently and some of his favorites were visiting Evergreen and going to Casa Bonita!

I love getting to share Evergreen with visitors. Evergreen Crafters and Evergreen Clothing & Mercantile are my favorite gift shops. I love having lunch at Beau Jo’s overlooking Bear Creek followed by coffee from Muddy Buck Coffee House and a walk around the lake. If you stay in town for the evening, catching some live music at Little Bear Saloon is the perfect way to end the night.

Casa Bonita is a timeless classic! I love going there for lunch so you have plenty of time after eating to walk around and see everything they have to offer. The magic show was so much fun.

A few other fun ideas for visitors:
Driving through Golden Gate Canyon State Park and stopping at the overlooks
Hiking the Trading Post Trail at Red Rocks
Getting ice cream at High Point Creamery
Visiting Estes Park and taking a ghost tour at the Stanley Hotel
Visiting Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, driving through Garden of the Gods, and having lunch at Fargo in Colorado Springs

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout out to my best friend Caroline Hill. Without her, I never would have moved to Colorado. Caroline and I have shared so many core memories and outdoor adventures together over the years. One of our favorite things to do together back home in Maryland was paddling around the local rivers and bays. We’ve loved exploring all of the fun paddle spots around Denver.

Caroline is a super talented illustrator and graphic artist with her own line of merchandise, Chill Ghost Designs. You can check out her work at www.chillghostdesigns.com or @chill_ghost_ on Instagram.
