We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The way our business started is kind of funny. My work had a Christmas/Holiday party & there happened to be a “bake off”. My husband and I are competitive bodybuilders and compete regularly. So, us being on such a strict diet, we would have cheat meals every now and then that left us very disappointed. Either the baked good was dry, not sweet enough, or too sweet, etc. we would always be let down because we only get so many cheat meals. Casey started baking cookies. He did a lot of research of how to make the best, gooey, buttery cookies & created our own first recipe, which is now our “Walnutella” cookie. So to bring this story back around, we too this cookie to the bake off and had an overwhelming WIN! There were at least 20-25 different treats up there. Everyone kept coming up to us asking if they could buy our cookies, if we sell them etc. My husband and I kind of looked at each other with a smirk like “…should we sell them?!” And within 3 weeks I had the trademark, business license, kitchen, website OPEN and ready for business! We now have created over 50 different flavors and have a very high customer return rate! We are looking to expand our business this year, just nailing down the details first!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Well, as you read about HOW we started this leads us to how it really took off.

We started the business in 2020 expecting to vender at festivals, car shows, concerts etc. when the Covid-19 pandemic happened that expectation quickly went away! Long before we started shipping these cookies all over the USA and Deployment locations, we started by personally delivering our cookies to local customers! It’s really great to see people who support you face to face! We are a small business and want to keep it that way. We want to make our business mobile and/or add another location! It being 2022 now, we are hoping to begin being a vender at some local events and bodybuilding shows!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, we love nature. We are more reserved type of people. I would take them to Young’s Jersey dairy in Yellow Springs, OHIO because it’s one of those local places you just HAVE to see. Then we would also go on a couple hikes to John Bryan and Glenn Helen State Parks. We have a brand new baby so I would likely also go to the Zoo and Aquariums! In southern OHIO Kings Island and Boomerang Bay are a must have as well!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would honestly love to shout out the owners of “Cookie Munchers”! They have no idea how they helped shape and encourage us as we built this business and as we continue to grow it! Their YouTube channel really helped us get started!

Casey, my husband, also is the expert baker! I do the business and packaging! He is the mastermind behind all of the recipies!
