Meet Amber Burr | CEO and Co-Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Burr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, is there something you believe many others might not?
Can I only pick one? LOL! I have a couple that really stand out.
“If you want it done right, do it yourself.”
This advice implies that success comes only from doing everything on your own, but I’ve learned (the hard way) that relying solely on yourself leads to burnout and limits growth. Building a business like Daddy’s Homemade has taught me the importance of trusting others, delegating tasks, and collaborating with a community. Success isn’t about doing it all—it’s about doing the right things with the right people by your side.
“Never mix business with personal life.”
I disagree with this because our personal story and values are the heart of our business. Daddy’s Homemade started as a way to create better options for my family without artificial additives, and it continues to be about fostering togetherness and fun through food and drink. By blending personal passion with professional goals, we’ve created something authentic that resonates deeply with our customers. Our personal life fuels my business, not detracts from it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Daddy’s Homemade, we’re passionate about creating all-natural syrups that bring families together around food. Our syrups are crafted with simple, high-quality ingredients and are free from artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. What sets us apart is not only that they are free of artificial ingredients but the versatility of our syrups—they’re perfect for everything from breakfast classics like pancakes and waffles to coffee, cocktails, and even savory dishes.
I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come and the community we’ve built along the way. Daddy’s Homemade started in our kitchen, inspired by a desire to create healthier options for my husband and our kids. What began as a personal mission to prioritize better ingredients quickly turned into a business fueled by love and support from our family and local community and a mission to get more syrup free of artificial ingredients and high fructose corn syrup into the hands of more consumers and businesses.
Getting to this point hasn’t been easy. As a small business owner, we’ve faced countless challenges, starting right from the beginning with starting a food business right before COVID and not being able to sample and learning the ropes of entrepreneurship and the CPG (consumer product goods) industry to balancing work with family life. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that I don’t have to do it all alone. Seeking mentorship, leaning on industry communities like Food Business Success, and embracing resources like the SBA Thrive program have been game-changers. I’ve also learned to celebrate the little wins, even during tough times, and to stay grounded in why I started this journey—to create something meaningful for my family and others.
What I want the world to know is that Daddy’s Homemade is more than just a syrup brand; it’s a story of love, perseverance, resilience and community. Our mission is to foster togetherness and fun and to create lasting memories through food and drink. When you choose our syrups, you’re supporting a family business that values health, quality, joy and connection.
To anyone out there working toward their dreams, know that it’s worth it. The path may not be easy, but it’s full of lessons, growth, and moments that make the journey unforgettable. The journey and inspiring others has become my favorite part of being an entrepreneur.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Success is never a solo journey, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the incredible support, love, and encouragement of so many people. First and foremost, I owe so much to my husband, my kids, and my mother in law who have been my constant source of inspiration and motivation. Daddy’s Homemade started as a way to create something healthier and more meaningful for our family, and their love fuels me every single day. Our kids have grown up around our business and are constantly reminding me why we started this journey in the first place.
I also want to shout out the incredible community of small business owners and makers in Colorado. One of my favorite things is meeting, and collaborating with other local business owners and working together to push each other up.
Organizations like Sari Kimbell’s Food Business Success, the SBA and the SBA Thrive accelerator program, Colorado Proud, and local Chambers of Commerce, Naturally Colorado and Colorado SBDC to name a few have been instrumental in helping me navigate and grow this business and have provided invaluable mentorship, camaraderie, and encouragement. Being part of a community that truly understands the challenges of building something from the ground up has been transformative.
Finally, I have to recognize our amazing customers. Whether they’ve bought syrup at a local market, shared kind words, or recommended us to friends, their belief in our product and mission has been the foundation of our growth. To all the individuals and groups who have supported us along the way, thank you from the bottom of my heart. This journey wouldn’t be possible without you.
