Meet Amber Harris | Founder and CEO of Mahogany Dreams

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting Mahogany Dreams was deeply personal. I have always believed in the power of ritual, those small, intentional moments that help us reconnect with ourselves. As a busy woman juggling family, career, and the expectations of life, I realized how easy it is to put self-care on the back burner. I wanted to create something that reminded people, especially women, that they deserve to feel nourished, seen, and celebrated every single day.
Mahogany Dreams was born out of that vision – a luxury body care brand rooted in self-honoring. Every product is designed not just to moisturize your skin, but to elevate your mood and help you slow down, even if just for a few moments. I wasn’t just starting a business; I was creating a sanctuary in a bottle.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Mahogany Dreams apart is the intention behind every bottle – I am not just selling body care; I’m offering moments of peace, pleasure, and self-connection. I work full-time as a 911 operator, on 12-hour-shifts, so I deeply understand the need for stillness and care in the middle of chaos. My background in customer service and sales taught me how to truly listen to people’s needs, and that inspired me to create a line using premium oils that not only feel luxurious, but actually nourish and soften the skin. Building this brand has not been easy… I have faced burn-out, self-doubt, and growing pains – but I have learned consistency, grace, and staying rooted in your “why” can carry you through anything. I want the world to know that Mahogany Dreams is about more than beauty – it’s about honoring yourself, one layer at a time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Getty Center – for art, stunning views, and peaceful gardens.
Leimert Park – to experience Black-owned shops, music, and community.
El Matador Beach – for the perfect beach setting and to enjoy the waves.
The Scent Room LA – for the perfect scent experience

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wan to dedicate this moment to my children, who are the heart behind Mahogany Dreams. They have stood beside me at countless vendor events, helped pack orders, and offered hugs on the days I felt like giving up. Their presence reminds me why I started this journey – to build something meaningful, lasting, and rooted in love. They give me the courage to keep going, and everything I create is a reflection of the legacy I hope to leave for them.
