We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Lester and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For the past 6 years, I’ve been practicing as a family nurse practitioner in the Denver area. Some may view nursing as a profession filled with opportunities, but I believe it’s much more. It’s an art, a delicate balance between care delivery and the creation of personalized solutions that go beyond the standard quality of care, driven by critical thinking. I have worked with many providers, and I have found that if I want the job done right with intention and thought through care, I needed to do it myself. The healthcare system is failing, and I want to be one of those providers that still shows up and delivers quality of care to my clients. It is what my clients deserve.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My first role in healthcare began as a patient care technician, and I gradually wanted to learn more. I first obtained my Associate’s degree in nursing in 2010, and I continued to wanting to learn more. Eventually, I went back to school to obtain my Bachelor’s in nursing, then graduated with Honor’s when I completed my course work with a Master’s as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I then realized that was still not enough for my patients. They deserved the best version of myself, and I wanted to excel beyond measure. At last, I graduated with Honor’s again when I obtained my Doctorate in nursing.

My role extends beyond mere medication administration and protocol adherence. Throughout my extensive nursing career, I’ve dedicated myself to providing quality, effective care tailored to each patient’s unique needs while maintaining flexibility and compassion. Nursing, for me, is a calling, a ministry. It’s about surpassing the ordinary, a pursuit of excellence that combines determination, compassion, self-sufficiency, and enthusiasm to deliver the highest quality of care.

Over the years, I’ve continued to evolve through education and experience. Obtaining my Doctorate and transitioning into a nurse practitioner role has further empowered me to become the exceptional nurse I aspire to be every day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If one of my closest friends were visiting, I would take them to downtown Littleton, which is a quaint peaceful nook. It reminds me of the South very much. Filled with history and elegance. Stopping at Penzey’s for spices to cook with because I enjoy cooking for friends immensely. We would hike Lair O’ the Bear, and then visit downtown Morrison. I am obsessed with small town shopping, especially supporting small business owners. We would take a couple classes at Selenite Studio which is a pole studio located in Littleton, CO, which I love and support immensely, this is my second home. Selenite caters to inclusivity for all people and offers an array of classes such as Aerial, Pole fitness, Lyra, Yoga, and so much more. We would catch a live show at Red Rock’s Amphitheater, while listening to music, enjoying our surroundings of beautiful Colorado.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Christie Matheis. Christie is a close friend of mine, an entrepreneur, business owner of Hermosa Collars, and a mentor. She has always welcomed me with positive reinforcement, guidance through my journey of female business owner, and has shown kindness and patience along the way. Nico Berlin. Nico is also a wonderful mentor. She is owner and operator of Selenite Pole Fitness Studio & Amethyst Aerial Arts Studio in Littleton, CO & Wheatridge, CO. She is an entrepreneur. She has shown elite guidance and helps with suggestions through her experiences as a female business owner.
Without these two highly remarkable women, I would not have become the woman I am today. I am so grateful to have these two women in my life.
