Meet Amber Miller | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Lakewood, Colorado, born and raised. My background and upbringing have had a profound impact on who I am, especially as an artist. When I was 7 years old, I was diagnosed with an incredibly rare form of muscular dystrophy. My childhood was filled with doctor’s appointments, endless medical tests, and limitations that kept me from doing what most kids were doing—playing sports, running, even just being on the playground. So instead, I drew. Art became my outlet, my way of coping with the physical and emotional weight of being different.
I stopped drawing in my late teens and early twenties, but after having my first child, I experienced postpartum anxiety. It was a tough time, and I turned back to art to help navigate it. Creating gives me a sense of calm I can’t find anywhere else. When I’m making art, especially through stippling, my brain quiets down—it’s like everything else fades and I can just breathe. Stippling, in particular, has been really meditative for me. I get completely lost in the repetition and focus it requires, and it’s been both healing and empowering.
So in many ways, both the challenges and the beauty in my life have shaped the way I create and who I’ve become.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Bonfire burritos is the best spot to eat around town. We love spending time in downtown Golden, and Morrison!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Special thanks to my family who always offers their never ending support!
