Meet Amy Warneke | Owner, Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Warneke and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My business grew organically out of necessity and happenstance. I started working at a florist shop in the afternoons when I was 15. I learned the “grit” of the business – how to clean flowers, how to care for them, how to manipulate them to create arrangements and use them as a medium. Then as the years went on I would create for friends and family weddings, holidays, small events – recently after COVID, I decided to really pursue the one “job” I had always loved and continued to go back to.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a florist, primarily for weddings and I think what sets me apart is the relationships I try to create with a couple and family when creating for them – and my flexibility. Florals is an interesting world and I do not see too many individuals who are trying to create with them. It is a fun and stressful industry, weddings are stressful enough and with Pinterest there is never a lack of inspiration. I truly enjoy spending time getting to know a bride or couple or family (if everyone is involved!) and to create a special addition to their incredible memory. One other aspect that I really try to stay true to is my flexibility – in a post? COVID world we never know what to expect, I would hate to have someone be planning a huge dream wedding and then something happen, it be cut in half, but still have them be billed for everything – I try to stay true to the Golden Rule and under promise, but over deliver.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A week? That’s really putting me on the spot! But I can list a few spots that I love. Going through the Highlands and West Side books is one of my favorite past times. I always can find books that I’ve never seen before, and I’ve frequently used them to create pieces with. Lunch or dinner at The Perfect Landing, it has excellent food and is always fun to watch and daydream about hopping on a jet for an exciting vacation. I’d finish the trip by taking them to Breckenridge to enjoy main street, eat some delicious donuts at Daylight Donuts, walk around and check out the leaves changing and end with a perfect cup of coffee and a beautiful sunset over Peak 8.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My number one would be Krista – owner of KMM Photography. She’s incredible to work with, so fun and professional, and her pictures? Well she makes me (and everyone else) look GREAT. I’ve met a lot of great people in this industry, and I am honored to continue to be a part of it and be able to do what I love!
