We had the good fortune of connecting with Anais and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anais, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Finding magic in everyday life. I need magic, I need dreams, I need hope and mysticism. So, little reminders of these things, in everyday life, make me happy. Adding to that, I’m happiest when I can be myself and do what I love.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I think of myself as this multi-layered, multi-dimensional, hyper creative being. Poetry was my first love. As a kid (and teen) I was writing poems and short stories constantly. Then, drawing and painting came next. Around college time, I deep-dived into spirituality, mysticism, astrology, ancestry, and esoteric things – all of it very much shaped where I am today.

I’d say, as an artist, I have taken many little detours. As of today, my main things are story writing, poetry, dabbling in painting (not to sell, more for myself), occasional craft and jewelry making. I experiment with music from time to time. I like having many ways to express myself and the creative fire that burns inside me.

What sets me apart? I never really know how to answer this question. I’m me and very unique, there is only one of me, so yeah, that’s what sets me apart. I’ve had three NDE (near-death experiences) in my life, and I know that impacts everything I do. I feel like I have one foot on earth, and another in the spirit realm. I believe that influences everything I do, from poems to short stories, even my work with my astrology clients.

How did I get here? On a long, windy, at times difficult road. I’ve overcome challenges with support from others, and my own strength. As for lessons…that’s hard for me to summarize. I’ve learned a lot. I can say that I have learned a lot.

What do I want the world to know about me, my brand, or my story? I’d say, for anyone who needs to hear it, be yourself. Don’t hide your shine. Do not apologize for not fitting in. I never changed who I was, for anyone. I am so proud of that. I credit my strong spirit to my mom; she made sure I knew I didn’t have to be like anyone else, or fit the image of what they wanted me to be. Be yourself, there is only one of you, and that is a special and magical thing.

As for my art, I’d love to share my short stories with the world more, and my poetry. Astrology, and my work with clients, is a big part of what I do. Since I mentioned it here, I would like the world to know there is so much you can learn about yourself and your energy by connecting with your stars.

My work as an astrologer is not based on predictions. I leave that to everyone else. I focus on a person’s understanding of the chart and its energies. This is important to me because learning my chart helped me understand myself. When I do this work, depending on what the person is seeking, I add other things like tarot, or even past life readings. I’m all about deep diving, always have been, I like guiding others on their deep dives too.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I adore Colorado, I used to visit it often in the past. I know my answers will be typical because these are common answers, and it has been years since I’ve been back, but here we go…

My number one stop, always, is Garden of the Gods. A trip is not complete if I don’t go. It’s so magical, it’s a must for me. If I were there with a friend, I would bring them there as fast as I can. As a music lover and live concert fanatic, I’d have to take this friend to a concert at Red Rocks. What’s better than live music in that setting?

I am obsessed with Manitou Springs, a stop there would be a must. I can’t recall the names, but I ate well and had some yummy things there. Plus, the place is so cute. I loved it when I visited years ago. Pikes Peak is breathtaking. I’m a big Boulder CO fan as well, always enjoyed my time there. I enjoyed my visit to multiple crystal shops in a few neighborhoods. I can’t recall all the places now, but off the top of my head, I also went to this Oxygen bar once, that was a blast. I’d love to go back and bring a friend. I have many good memories in Colorado and wish I could name all the places I enjoyed, but it has been a long time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I dedicate this to two people, one my mom, up in the sky, in the spirit realm. Two, my granny, who was my best friend and shaped so much of who I became. This is for them. This is also for my ancestors, all the beautiful souls who are the reason I am here today, and my family.

Expanding on that, I’d say there are numerous people I could think of (friends, mentors, partners), too many to name. I’d love to shout out those who were always there for me, lifted me up, supported me, protected me, and rooted for me.

Other: I’m not a big social media user. So, I rarely use IG. I also do not offer instant online booking. I’m old school and make myself available for a limited time each month. So, before I book someone, there is a consultation to see if we are a good fit or not.

For those who would like to subscribe to monthly articles and more, I do have a Patreon. I put out a few posts a month covering astrology and more. I usually post once every two weeks or so. There are various levels of membership. Each has a specific set of offerings. It’s a casual chill vibe over there, not posting everyday sort of thing. https://www.patreon.com/Mysticalmandrakeroot
