Meet Andreas Kremer | Artist & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andreas Kremer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andreas, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
During my life my balance between work and life has changed drastically. Ive always been quite the extremist no matter what I was into. I quite often found myself getting obsessed over things, especially those things I enjoy. As a kid I discovered skateboarding and quickly found myself riding every single day no matter what, it was the only thing I could think about. My life quickly evolved entirely around skateboarding. As I grew older and began thinking about what I was going to make my career I started taking more art classes in high school because that was the only subject that really interested me. After taking a class on digital art and discovering I could get paid to design graphics I was all in. I went to collage and majored in graphic design and pursed entrepreneurship as a minor. After leaving school I had built up a decent portfolio and got a degree. I was all set to find a job but I knew that wasn’t the path for me, I wanted to create my own job where I could be in charge and create the things that I wanted to create. So I started listening to podcasts, reading books, watching YouTube, and doing just about anything I could to figure out how I could become my own boss. Just like with skateboarding I got obsessed. All I wanted to do and all I could think about was creating my own business. To say I had any sort of balance between work and life would be a complete lie. My life became the work I was doing and that’s how I wanted it to be. I don’t believe there is balance in this world, we are people and our very nature is to be imperfect. To put some arbitrary number to how much time and energy you should spend working versus enjoying your life is quite ridiculous. We all have our own balance we must discover and I am truly grateful that I love the work I do. Now don’t get me wrong I still hang out with friends and spend my time doing stuff that isn’t related to my work but at the end of the day my work excites me, it fuels me, it brings me great joy, and its how I want to spend my time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets my art apart from others is my motive. Im never worried about the end result, in fact I almost never have any sort of plan for what I’m creating. My creations are very natural and come about quite organically. For me its never been about the final product I’ve always just enjoyed the act of creating. Art is an escape, it allows my mind to break free from anything that’s going on in my life or the world around me. A blank canvas is like a playground for my mind. What gets me more excited than anything is that moment when an idea starts to sprout in my mind. Its this moment of realization when I’m creating that I see a vision in my piece. It feels like all the gears in my head that have been turning have finally aligned and everything makes sense. My pieces often start out as complete chaos and being able to find order in the chaos brings me to this realization that all these supposed imperfections are actually what brings beauty to the art. This has not only inspired me as an artist but its something I take away into my everyday life. Creating art like this has allowed me to see beauty in just about everything and its shown me to not get caught up in these supposed mistakes that happen through life because I’ve come to realize there’s no way of knowing just how they are going to play out in the long run.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Colorado sure is an amazing place to visit. First off were definitely going to check out the Denver Art Society, off of Santa Fe. Its a gallery run entirely by local artists and quite a spectacular place. Next were gonna head to Voodoo doughnuts and grab a snack cause they have some of the craziest flavors you could imagine. After that id say the best thing to do is spend some time out in the mountains, there filled with the most incredible views as well as the most fun you’ll have. If you’re here in the summer a trip to trestle for some mountain biking is a must. Winter time well most definitly be going to Loveland to snowboard. Theres also so many other great activities to do in the mountains. Strawberry hot springs is an excellent spot to relax and star gaze. The Great Sand Tube National Park is one of the wildest spots I’ve been too. In the fall Aspen is an amazing spot to go hiking. All in all wherever you end up going in the mountains is going to be a great time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Id like to shout out all the people who have supported and inspired me along the way. First of my parents were my biggest supporters since the begining, they always wanted to see what I was doing and help in any way they could. Next Id like to thank the Dude Imagine Crew, my best friends Evan Christensen and Yiannis Mikalis, I have gained so much inspiration and support from these two dudes and I can’t say Id be there person or artist I am today without them. I’d also like to thank Brenden Wertlieb, better know as 10Drilz, he’s not only my best friend but he’s been my manager and always pushes me creatively to be the best artist I can be. Lastly Id like to shout out the Cosmic Collabers, Toeknee Martian and Reina Luna, I have been honored to collaborate with these two countless times and they have brought so much loving energy into my ;life and my art. I am extremely grateful for everyone who has crossed my path and you all have played such a crutial role in my life, Thank you.
