We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Henry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angel, what do you attribute your success to?
What should our readers know about your business?
Companies and non-profits are caught between “The Great Resignation”, hybrid/remote work, and growing instability of the global economy. Now is the perfect storm of leaders wanting to lead with empathy but not really knowing the needs of their changing, multi-generational workforce all while watching the bottom line.
As reported by McKinsey & Co. in 2020, “Our latest analysis reaffirms the strong business case for both gender diversity and ethnic and cultural diversity in corporate leadership—and shows that this business case continues to strengthen. The most diverse companies are now more likely than ever to outperform less diverse peers on profitability.”
However, the growth is SLOW. Biased performance management, insular advising, mentoring practices, and lack of feedback all contribute.
Angel G. Henry and the AngelsSpeaking, Inc. team believe that the middle management layer is the key to realizing DEI strategic objectives for organizations. Middle management engages the front-line everyday but is often missing how to put inclusion training into practice. Managers often feel overwhelmed to show up in a new way which can leave them uncomfortable and ill-equipped for the job of “Inclusive Leader.” We leverage an Agile Mindset Framework specifically targeted to provide supervisors with not only the concepts but the language and practical application to further their inclusion maturity.
We at AngelsSpeaking, Inc. are the unique answer to ensure inclusion truly happens and top talent is retained. We help to ensure that organizations do get their ROI on their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) investments!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love when my friends come to Indianapolis in the Summer!
I always encourage them to attend the weekend of Indianapolis Black Expo (IBE) where we can attend the free concert on the lawn in the downtown park. That is always a Friday night fun event!
Then Saturday is a day filled with shopping at local vendors, amazing food trucks, and day parties for great music from the 90s.
After an early Saturday evening and a much-needed nap, attending parties from local African American Greek-Lettered organizations completes the night.
Finally on Sunday after the Gospel Festival, if we are lucky…a trip north to Connor Prairie for an evening Concert in the Park by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Dr. Avis Jones DeWeever, my business coach gets the credit for igniting the fire within me to follow my passion! Dr. Avis is a business coach but it’s more like a ministry. She spent 30 minutes of her personal time to pour into me ideas of expanding my work, owning my own coaching, and consulting business, being on TV offering my advice and guidance. Three short years later all that has come to fruition and more! The biggest thing that she gave me however was the confidence- the confidence to move in the direction to use my spiritual gifts to help others.
