We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Chirila and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
“I’m Angela Chirila, originally from Moldova and now living in the United States. My journey as an artist began amidst the enchanting illustrations of fairy tales and the sacred paintings of church interiors. Growing up, my grandmother often read fairy tales to me and Sundays were spent attending church together. The beauty of art captured my imagination from a young age, leading me to explore drawing with a lot of passion. Over the years, my love for the craft has only deepened and I decided to learn acrylic and oil mediums. My art is a reflection of my deep appreciation for beauty and spirituality and the wonders of nature. I want my paintings to evoke emotions and transport viewers into enchanting realms of imagination and wonder.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Besides being an artist I m also working as a Pre k teacher and I also wrote 2 books for kids that I’m really proud and excited about. Writing two books for kids, especially in English, which isn’t my first language, has been both challenging and rewarding. I’m still learning and growing as a writer, and I’m eager to continue writing and sharing more stories in the future but I think that being an artist is the hardest part because I feel very connected with the art I create and I see it both as curse and blessing.
It’s clear that being an artist is not just a profession for you; it’s a part of who you are. Your connection to your art is deep and it makes you to constantly seek new knowledge, techniques, and inspiration. Despite the frustrations and the constant inner dialogue about your work, you have to understand that the journey of learning and growth is what truly matters. My experience as an artist has taught me that the process is more important than the end result in any situation and that living in the moment in more important that the future. Art is not just something you do—Art becomes your identity that will continue to shape your life and your work forever.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would probably take my friends to see the Garden of the Gods, the Valkarie Art Gallery, eat at the Forth restaurant in Morrison and maybe go for a walk on the 16 th street downtown Denver.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would give lot of credit for the person I’ m today to my grandmother.
Her strength and courage inspired me to face life’s challenges with grace. She taught me to find peace in chaos and she taught me the love for books and crafts. Her stories helped me grow my imagination and my passion for creativity.
