We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started A Little Pebbled in March of 2020 looking for a new activity to throw myself into during the pandemic. I’ve always loved to draw, and as a cannabis user with a love of cute, girly things, I often didn’t see my demographic represented at shops or in stoner gear, and I wanted to fill that gap! Then in May, George Floyd was murdered by police in my hometown, inciting worldwide protests and more mainstream awareness of systemic and institutional racism. I realized that I had a duty to be sure I was contributing to remedying the racism that exists with legalization; the  criminalization of cannabis has been disproportionally harmful for people of color, and even with increasing acceptance, black people are still 4x more likely to be arrested for possession than white people. I decided I could help by donating 10% of revenue from A Little Pebbled to Last Prisoner Project, an organization that works to repair these injustices through various forms of cannabis criminal justice. So while I began this business mostly for fun, it has turned into a way to help contribute to efforts that make sure cannabis legalization is equal for everyone; over these last 2 years we have donated over $2000 to Last Prisoner Project! Growing with A Little Pebbled has been an extremely rewarding journey so far, and I can’t wait to see what the future brings!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have loved art my whole life, but only recently started calling myself an artist. I was always a doodler and found joy in silly drawings, but never pursued it in a traditional sense, and never felt personally motivated to take my own art seriously. The pandemic led to too much time on my hands and a craving to feel productive, so I began doing little drawings each day to give me something to focus on. I soon realized that I had tons of ideas, especially for cutesy, weed puns; I felt excited about my art, and realized I could and should take it more seriously. Now, I have a whole portfolio of drawings and designs and commissions, the motivation to continue pushing myself to create, and most importantly to me, confidence in my little doodles.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a little biased, but I would say definitely check out the local dispensaries – Colorado is the best if you enjoy cannabis, and there’s always something new to try! After you partake, I’d suggest a stroll around Stanley marketplace, a recommissioned airport with tons of amazing food and shops! It has a really cool atmosphere, and amazing patio/grassy space, which is a great way to soak up some of that great Colorado sun!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my friend Sunny for bravely trailblazing this career, and helping me begin my own! She is such an inspiration and an all around amazing woman – thank you for helping me take this plunge!

I also want to thank my mom, boyfriend, and my wonderful friends for supporting me tirelessly through this experience! Their encouragement has motivated me during all phases of this journey, and I would not be where I am today without them.
