We had the good fortune of connecting with Annemarie Sampson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Annemarie, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
The Wellness Industry has grown up before our eyes the past 4 decades. Through the onset of influencers and social media the increase of celebrities (think Kim Kardashian and Beyond Meat) and everyday people sharing their “fitness and diet” tips has created a toxic environment that can lead to mental and physical problems.
A toxic wellness environment leads to a limited view of what is considered being holistically well. Believing that working out and pushing yourself takes precedence over listening to your body, thinking that the only purpose of working out is to lose weight, and. cultivating inaccessible fitness spaces. Convincing yourself that a certain “diet” will solve all of your problems, help you “look” the perfect way.
it is important to unpack how the wellness industry has evolved over time… and how it has come to label certain bodies as “good” and “bad”. It’s important to understand that everyBODY is acceptable and deserving of love!
What should our readers know about your business?
Owning my own business over the past 40 years has been a roller coaster filled with pivots. I am convinced that staying honest and continuing to connect to other female entrepreneurs has kept me in the game. I am a learner and not a knower and the first person to say ‘thank you, you taught me something new”.
About My Services
I work with clients to achieve physical, mental, emotional, and social health — regardless of environment, economic status, weight, or current health condition. I begin my work with clients to understand their personal values. When we know our values, our habits are rooted in purpose and passion. Our values could be related to our personal health, career aspirations, relationships, or any other long-term project that requires thought, effort, and dedication. When our actions align with our values, we are much more likely to succeed.
The goal — SUSTAINABLE WELLness.
Together, we can continue to have the difficult conversations and invite sustainable living practices into our communities – one positive change at a time!

Best question ever!
Over the past 4 decades the largest Shoutout has to go to my clients and athletes who have trusted me with their stories, time, and energy. I am forever grateful.
LakeShore athletic Club, Chicago Il, was home base while our children were young and instrumental in allowing me to grow professionally while giving our kids a safe and fun space to spend their childhood.
Recently, The Science on Nutrition and Movement Certification and The Digital Wellness Institute are changing the conversation on what it means to be Holistically Well.
