We had the good fortune of connecting with Annie McInnes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Annie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Because I was an art teacher, it only made sense that face painting was an extension of my interest. I started by rewarding my students with free face painting several times a year. They helped me to develop my designs and create what was in demand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an artist with a variety of interest. Face painting is one of my two businesses. I am a Silver Smith and a Glass artist. I sell my work privately as well as in shops up in Summit County and Leadville.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take a visitor to Red Rocks Amphitheater. We would also go hiking in the mountains as well as biking on the Highland Canal. I would take my visitor on light rail downtown and possibly attend a play or concert at DCPA. Depending on the visiting exhibits, we might go to the Denver art museum. If there was live music, I would take my visitor to South Suburban Golf course to sit on the patio and enjoy some light eat some good music.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All of my art students throughout the years.
