We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Argento and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anthony, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Funny enough my thought process was to start some sort of workshops with the relationship I built with all the films schools in NY. I followed the road that eventually shaped my company into a production company. Somehow working with the biggest international film companies around the world filming across America. I tried, I failed, and I continue to fail but with more knowledge.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I started in this industry I was a intern in a Nickelodeon tv show call “Naked Brother Band” starting Nat, Alex and Polly wolf/Draper. I eventually got bumped up to a paid position. I worked long and painful hours. Some days were good and some were just bad. Like the day I overslept and was late to work for nearly 2 hours. Well that never happened again. Sometimes you need to fall to learn. I’m never late now. In the film industry we say if your on time your late. I always value peoples time no matter the position you are in. My brand served into a international production house that developed many inspiring stories many have never heard of.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well the first and foremost the sound stages is where I would begin. Seeing celebrities and spectacular film sets is always a good start. Checking out all the amazing local bars like sunshine laundry mat. It a hidden bar within a laundry mat in green point brooklyn! another with a great view and glass water tower on their roof is Greenpoint Beer and ale. Dinner at Manducati Rustica in LIC is always a good environment. Bowling at the Gutter or Brooklyn Bowl is always fun. Then for the night life at the Knockdown center is a fun night too.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family is the one that was alway their for me in the good and bad. For years of working close with Jim Chory who has really taken out time in his schedule for guidance more time then I can count. Augusto Lopez is another that would carry me though a burning building and then laugh about it the next day. Their are very few people that would drop what they are doing to come to your rescue. I feel that these people really shaped my personality.
