We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Blanton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
As a business owner I think of this as just a life balance, because I am my business 100 percent of the time and I love what I do. When I first started all I thought about was getting clients in no matter what. I would sacrifice my lunch breaks or my day off to get clients in, and well I do still do this. However, I have worked on my boundaries. When I go on vacation I am able to be present during that time because I worked extra days leading up to vacation to prepare my clients for my leave. I separate my personal time from my business time to give my clients my complete and undivided attention. I think I will always have to be conscious of this balance, but it has gotten easier.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I have always tried to be a thoughtful and intentional person. Ever since I opened Ashley Cole Beauty in June of 2018 I have felt like I should make my clients FEEL valued and cared for, by creating intention. I am so incredibly grateful for every person in my chair, they trust me, and I want them to know that. I am providing luxury services for them, they deserve to have comfortable, long lasting and healthy results. I put a lot of integrity into every service, by using high quality products and by attending continued education courses. I stress the necessary aftercare needed for each service, to achieve a long term goal. My intention is to create a safe environment for EVERYBODY, allow my clients to feel heard and achieve their beauty goals.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Denver has so many amazing things to offer. If I were to show someone a greta time while visiting I would first take them to red rocks, either for a concert or for a hike. I would also take them up0 to Rocky Mountain national park for a beautiful drive, stop somewhere for lunch with a view. In the city I would take them for breakfast at snooze and then to walk around union station maybe get some drinks, Denver has some Michelin star restaurants I would definitely want to take them to as well.
Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, etc. that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
I have great appreciation for the people in my life who have been supporting me through it all. My sister has been my biggest support system for my whole life. She let me do her makeup in high school (and not well might I add, sorry sis). She came in as my model in beauty school and supports my business in every way she can. I have incredible friends who all support me and my business, I love them like family. I wouldn’t be here without my sister, my family and all my friends but I especially wouldn’t feel this successful without my boyfriend of 3 and a half years. He keeps me motivated, supports me in our personal life so I can focus on business, refers my business to any and everyone. I clearly have a lot of people I am grateful and that makes me feel so lucky that this list of people is so long.
