We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Hattermann and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was an assistant photographer and learned a lot from him over the years. The more I learned the more I wanted to branch out on my own. My friends and family  really pushed me to do that and gave me the confidence in my work that I needed to take the leap of faith.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I work full time in radiology. I have been in the field now for 16 years. So my life encompasses two different aspects of photography. I photograph people in their happiest moments as a photographer; and in their worst moments as a CT technologist. But with radiology I don’t capture their outer body, I capture what’s inside.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely be taking them downtown as well as to the mountains. I don’t plan things for them to do though, I want to be able to do what we are in the mood for. If we feel like dressing up and going out we will head downtown for drinks and dinner, likely visiting The Cooper Lounge at some point. But we will spend a lot of time exploring outside and the little mountain towns, because that’s what brings the most joy and peace.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My friends and family for always cheering me on.
