We had the good fortune of connecting with Audrey Christensen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Audrey, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I never set out to be a business owner. I grew into being an artist that grew into being a business owner. It was something that just had to become. There was such a need for me to share my art with others that the only way to do that was to start a business.
That then led to me getting so excited that others too could start a business and become a thriving artists instead of this starving artist that we were led to believe we would become if we choose our passion over a 9-5 job.
This is why I became a business educator for creatives because helping others learn the art of small business has become such a passion and to see them thrive is so rewarding.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
One of the things I pride myself on is building a community and I know “community” is an overused word nowadays but I truly believe that providing space for individuals to express themselves while going after the type of life they want can be challenging.
As a Business Educator for Creatives, I truly believe that I am able to visualize people’s big dreams and help them build small steps that are easier to take so that they can live the level of success that they are after and being an artist myself I know just how hard it can be to take those first steps.
I bring in that overall understanding of creating and sharing my art with others while at the same type building a life that is up to the standards of what success is to me. Plus, the group coaching, I do allows others to find the connection they may have never had the chance of getting before.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ogden, Utah is a hidden gem. There are so many markets, art galleries, and events that go on any day would be a day that you could get lost in this small town.
We would spend most of our time on historic 25th street during a Friday art stroll and grabbing dinner at Table 25 then head to the lighthouse for some drinks- or hit up the many bars along the way.
Saturday we’d enjoy the Farmers Market and get one of the best sough dough donuts you have ever tasted and spend the rest of the day taking some art workshops at the monarch and catch a concert at the amphitheater
Sunday we could go to the mountains and take a nice hike to the waterfalls.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Look I wouldn’t be where I am today without the women in the Ogden Rad Ladies. They held space for me when I was at my lowest and gave me the confidence to become empowered. They not only supported me when I start my small business but they help me grow it.
The friendships I have made from this group have been everything.
