We had the good fortune of connecting with Ben Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ben, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Learning from your mistakes and being open to feedback in every way, shape and form, which is how I try to approach life. There’s always more to learn and there are always way to improve your process, and realizing that I think has brought PufCreativ a long way. When we onboard a new employee we always make it a point to let them know that if there are parts of our process we could improve, we genuinely encourage that feedback. Every team member brings something different to the table and I think the environment we’ve fostered in which we are constantly trying to become better at our trade is reflected in our day to day client interactions.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well we’re only getting busier at PufCreativ, which is the best problem to have, but on top of that I was recently brought on as a partner in the business. Although I had played with the idea of starting my own business years ago when I was primarily freelancing, that thought had definitely gone on the back burner until the partners at PufCreativ decided to give me this opportunity a few months back.
If there’s one thing you want people to know about you, what would that be?
I think I’ve come this far in my career by being very critical of my past work and constantly striving to learn more and streamline each and every facet of my process. If there was one thing I would want the world to know about me, it’s just that leaving the ego behind and putting yourself on the same human level as anyone you interact with, no matter their job title, age, experience, etc. has gotten me really far in life, and if more people lost the arrogance the world would be a better place.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If we’re looking for a night out, I’d probably start at Blue Sushi, then bounce around to a brewery or two, like maybe Wynkoop or Jagged Mountain, then head up to RiNo. Finn’s Manor is one of my favorite places in town, so I’d definitely stop in there. If we were to head up to mountains to get the full Colorado experience, I would definitely stop over at Red Rocks to see the epic venue, then either make my way up to the South Platte for some fly fishing, or up Berthoud Pass to Winter Park for some mountain biking and sight seeing.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would say my parents were very supportive at a young age regardless of what I was interested in, and they also exposed me to a lot of different things, yet were never overly pushy with any of them. That really allowed me to carve my own path in life that was focused around the things I excelled at or that really clicked with me. Nowadays I have to thank the entire creative community for keeping me inspired and forcing my brain to work in different ways. During my time in undergrad I learned that although you may be a brilliant designer or artist, your brain can only work in so many ways and an outside perspective can really bring things to another level. Whenever we launch a project I try to get as many sets of eyes on things as possible, including non-creatives, which is primarily who our services are catered to. And lastly obviously the entire team at PufCreativ, who I am thankful for each and every day and cannot wait to see what the future holds for our company.
