We had the good fortune of connecting with Benjamin Higgins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Benjamin, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I believe in people and I believe that in order to be successful you have to surround yourself with talented people. I surround myself with people that push me in ways that I am weakest. I believe that I have succeeded because of the people around me and my willingness and desire to listen to them.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started out my career in Denver, Co in the financial services industry. I worked for a software company that supported the settlement and clearing of financial assets. I worked in the industry for 5 years moving from being a business analyst then onto sales and business development. After my time on ABC’s “The Bachelor” I started Generous coffee Company along with 3 of my friends. Generous is a for-purpose business that sells coffee and then donates 100% of profits to nonprofits and social causes fighting human facing injustice. To this day I still operate as the President of Generous. In addition to Generous I have used the last few years to invest into projects I believe in. I have invested into 3 restaurants in Denver (Ash Kara Denver, Ash Kara Boulder, and Mister Oso). Furthermore in the last 12 months I have started a wholesale print on demand apparel company called “My fan Threads”. My hope is that each business or project I invest into people are being benefiting. I want these places to be a safe space for those that feel like outsiders and a welcoming environment for the people who need it the most!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would:
1. Go to the mountains to watch the sun come up
2. Take them for a workout at either F45 or Red Rocks amphitheater
3. Go to lunch at Ash Kara in Denver
4. Go take a nap
5. Go out for a cocktail in Rino
6. Go to dinner at Mister Oso
7. Go then catch a night time baseball game or basketball game downtown
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The team at Thomas Nelson Publishers in support of my book “Alone in Plain Sight”. In addition the team Hope Still Wins which is a podcast I host that speaks to thought leaders on the truths behind hope. Finally, the team at Generous Coffee Company for their continued work to make the world a better place!
