We had the good fortune of connecting with Bobbie Anne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bobbie Anne, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work – life balance as a self employed toddler momma is sometimes the biggest struggle for me. Being a fiber artist often feels more like a lifestyle and it can be difficult to turn work mode off when my busy season comes. Each of my items take time, most take a couple hours and some are worked over a couple of days. While it can get a bit overwhelming, I continue to push myself to stay focused and remind myself that hard work pays off!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Everything at Sheepish Stitches is handcrafted with love. I take pride in the details of my products and use high quality materials. Using ethically-sourced wool, including small batch hand-dyed yarns, each item is unique in its own way. Each beanie is topped with a handmade cruelty-free faux fur pom-pom that is removable and interchangeable. Each handmade piece is branded with a faux suede label so no animals are harmed in the making of my items.

My hope is to spread warmth by providing high quality, luxurious, handmade products which bring warmth, and joy to your heart.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I first picked up a hook and yarn, I never imagined that it would take me where it has! I would see other larger creators who made a living from doing what they enjoyed; creating beautiful yarn pieces, but I never thought ‘that will be me!’ I continued to self teach myself how to crochet and honed my skills as a hobby in my free time.

I had started a new job that I really thought I would enjoy, in a flower shop! I thought it would allow me to be creative, but it turned out that all I really got to do was sweep floors, wrap arrangements, and answer phones. I never got to actually be creative and arrange flowers! I was a few months pregnant and I was working 7 days a week with long hours…I was sore, tired and dreaded going back every morning. I knew that once my little one came I didn’t want to spend all of my Christmas’s at work and missing out on his first years.

At that point, I decided that this wasn’t the job for me. I wanted to be creative! I wanted to do more than sweep floors and answer phones! With a baby on the way, it was a little scary but I decided to work hard and push forward in my own business! While he may not have known, and still doesn’t, my little boy has helped me to work harder on my own business, and continue to push forward and grow Sheepish Stitches into what it has become today.
