We had the good fortune of connecting with Bobbie Stephens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bobbie, why did you pursue a creative career?
I never thought I would pursue an artistic career; before I ever started doing photography, I was in the US Army for seven years be for my life had a turn. After supporting CBP ( custom border patrol )down in Texas, I ended up getting leg problems, and long story short, I had to choose, get significant surgery on both legs or take an MEB ( Medical evaluation board), so I took the MEB and got out. So after I made my decision, I had to think of what I wanted to do when I got out. Then one day, I talked to a good mentor, and he brought up the idea of becoming a photographer. Little did I know that it would change my life, so I started to push and grind. After doing photos for about a year and getting better and better, I decided that I wanted to get a degree in photography, so I applied for AAU ( Academy art University) in CA, where I’m a 2end year student working on my BA. My goal is to work with National Geographic and inspire people to see the world.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Some of the things that I am proud of are being able to show the world through my eyes with a camera for people to see; I’m always excited to try new things and to see what I can try and push when it comes to artwork. Some of the things I did to get where I’m at now are push and grind; even if there were terrible weather, I would pick up my camera and still get out and shoot. I’m all about trying to maximize my time, there was a remarkable speech I got to listen to, and it was Arnold talking about time, and he said, you sleep 6 HR, and there is 24 HR in a day that gives you 18 HR to learn, work, gym, and study for school.

To maximize your time. It’s not easy getting to where I’m at. You have to keep pushing even if it does not work out from time to time, but anything is possible and never quite. One of the biggest lessons I have learned is to not give up and try and learn something new about what you’re doing and try and learn from others who are successful. I want to show you the world from a new perspective and inspire people to get out there and see the world. Time will go by, and it will be too late.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came out to see me for a week-long road trip, I would start by heading to The Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, where we would talk and catch up; the next day, we would see Crystal mill and the Maroon Bells, ending up in Grand Junction for the night. On day 3, we would be heading to Moab, and we would need car camp for the night, Day 4, we would see the Arches and the Antelope Canyon; on Day 5, we would head north to see snake river finish up in yellow stone.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
People I would like to thank for helping me, My loving Wife and my Amazing son, all of my family & friends, and a big thank you to Stefano Pellegrini for being my mentor, William patino; thank you for your help and your teaching.
