Meet Brian Brenzel

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Brenzel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work life balance is a tricky concept. For so long I lived by the mantra “I can rest when I am dead”. It helped me build a successful business throughout the years. That has changed since becoming a father. I have 2 little girls. A 2 1/2 year old and a 16 month old. Work life balance is now the most important thing to me.
I look as work life balance as a practice of putting boundaries on your time and being strict on them. Boundaries are set to allow me to be the Dad I want to be, while still trying to maintain the hard working values that have made me successful. I will never sacrifice the quality of my work, just as I will never sacrifice being able to spend quality time with my family.
Some people look at the richest people in the world as the most successful. I look at the most successful people as the ones who have been able to find that work life balance and be able to excel at both.

If I need to pick 1 thing that sets me apart from everyone else- I truly care about you. I care about your family. I care about your life. I care about the trust you put in me to help you live your best life. Simply put, I care.
Was it easy getting here? Of course not. I built my business by bartending nights until 4am and then would go in for a 5am client. I would convince people at the bar to come train with me. It was quite the dynamic! I started coaching at Orange Theory and was able to stop bartending and focus fully on my fitness career.
I’ve learned many lessons along the way. Two things stick out over most. 1. There is no substitute for hard work. 2. If you’re going to talk the talk, you better be able to walk the walk. I exemplify both.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I have friends visiting Colorado I always tell them to come hike the manitou incline with me. Otherwise, everyone loves to go up to Breckenridge/Silverthorne area and see the mountain towns. Now we aren’t hang out downtown kind of people. Unless we go to a Rockies game when the Phillies are in town or we tend to stay away from downtown. We like the Greenwood Village area. Los Chingones was a favorite of ours when we lived in the area. Comedy Works in Landmark is a great spot for a good laugh.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shout outs go to my entire community. I have spent years building a community of people who embody the kind of person I strive to be. Every single person has a quality that I envy and that I strive to make a part of myself. I have amazing fathers who I can look to and learn from. There are amazing mothers who have been teaching me for years how to treat my wife and family. I have successful business owners, entrepreneurs and the 9-5ers. They have taught me how to put my head down and not lose sight of the kind of work it takes to succeed. Then there’s my wife and daughters. They have taught me patience, dedication and have provided me with a constant motivation to succeed for them.
