We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Curry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important thing for the success of my business is being knowledgeable about the products I carry, and having excellent customer service. I feel that if I can successfully share my knowledge with my customers, they will be able to make even better choices for their beloved pets, and to me, that’s more important than making a sale.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been in the pet food industry for over a decade. I started out working in locally owned pet store, and eventually set out to do it for myself with my friend Tony and his wife Elena. We bought Doggie Dips & Chips 7 years ago. I bought Tony and Elena out two years ago, because he wanted to live closer to his family. It’s been challenging to adjust to the big changes that came with being a solo owner. I don’t think I would have been able to make the transition as successfully without my partner Monika. I’d want the world to know that you can succeed in business, without prioritizing profit over people. I hope we can stick around long enough to prove it!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For me, my life is all about my dogs. I’d take them to a Sniff Spot with my five dogs, and just have fun watching dogs having the time of their lives. Monika and I also avid tea drinkers, we’d probably take them to the Soul Shine Botanica, for their excellent selection, or Serenitea in Estes park. Lastly, I’d take them to Infinity Slopes here in Loveland, it’s an incredible indoor ski/snowboarding place that just opened this year.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicated my Shoutout to everyone in the community that supports small local businesses like mine. My store is right next to a PetCo, and without the community’s dedication to shopping local, we wouldn’t be here.
