We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brian, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my business because of the opportunity that I saw. At the time I was working with a few older friends and mentors of mine that were not able to run their business to its full potential because of health issues. When I started my business it was to help take on the business that my mentors could not take on and ultimately acted as a good transition when they retired from the industry.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The journey of running my business has been a great learning experience that has created many relationships and opportunities for me. Challenges will always present themselves with running a business but staying positive has always been my attitude towards overcoming these challenges. I have been surprised how fast things can change because you made a new connection and that lead to a profitable job. Without the positive outlook my business outlook could have changed on a daily basis; I had to focus on the general trajectory.
There is always a need in a community for a quality and friendly contractor; if you prove that you are that then your references will help feed you new business. My business Pandora Painting is not your average painting company; what sets us apart is our crew of Rope Access Certified Technicians. All of our technicians have a certification with the Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT). This allows us to access areas that my not be accessed without specialty lifts or complex scaffolding by using safer practices that are lower in cost. This ability to access these areas opens up opportunity for more types of business like installing Christmas lights, hanging advertisement banners, or making repairs in hard to reach locations.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them mountain biking or hiking on many of the great trails in and around Golden Gate Canyon State Park in Golden, CO. Then we would go tubing down Clear Creek followed by lunch and drinks at New Terrain Brewing. A show at Red Rocks would be a perfect follow up to this. This would be a great day or weekend giving them a taste of the foothills of the Rockies. For an epic longer getaway I would take them to Steamboat Springs, CO for some amazing powder skiing or mountain biking depending on the time of year.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my friend Balin Allen who helped me start my company. I worked with him for many years where he trained me as a painter, refined my character, and mentored me with starting my own painting business.
