Meet Brianne Perkett | Paralegal & Volleyball Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brianne Perkett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brianne, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I was raised on hard work and integrity, my parents instilled that in me at a young age. Since I can remember I have always put in extra hours in the gym training, working extra hours into the evenings, and even working extra hours on the weekends. If you wanted something, you had to work for it. I believe those morals are still applying in my adult life and my careers. I’ve managed to succeed as a volleyball coach because I’m willing to show up early for extra reps, I’m willing to stay late for weights, willing to organize program events and everything that goes along with it. A sports program is not successful because you want it to be, its successful when the participates are willing to buy into the process of what it takes to be successful. So I believe that a good work ethic and integrity are the two most important factors in being successful.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a full time paralegal for the District Attorney’s office during the day, outside of work my passion is coaching volleyball year round. I am proud of the playing career I had from 13 years old, through high school, to club, through college. I had an injury that ultimately halted my career in college, but I stayed there as a grad assistant coach and gained all the knowledge of coaching and the game of volleyball while finishing my degrees. I believe that God’s plan for me was to pursue a career in coaching rather than playing. So, what looked like a terrible injury was actually one of the best things that has happened to me – it set me up to view and understand the sport greater than I ever would have just as a player.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Colorado Springs sells itself! You can’t miss a view of the mountains anywhere you travel around the city! Exploring the mountains would have to be #1 on the list of things to do, explore the trails right up the pass into Woodland Park and then grab some lunch at a Ma and Pop’s diner called ‘The Pantry’. Manitou Springs is an awesome subdivision of COS and has unique shopping and stores that sell the beauty of Colorado,
Garden of the Gods is a must anytime someone visits Colorado Springs – it highlights the natural red rocks that look as if it were made for the gods. Supporting any hometown sport is also really fun! An Airforce Football game, a CC Hockey game, or UCCS Volleyball game always draws in a great local fanbase.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my parents! Where I am now is in big part to them. They raised me to keep your nose to the grindstone, to care for others, and always do what’s right. Throughout my life and career of volleyball, they have sacrificed so much time, energy and money so that I could chase my dream! They are new grandparents, and it has been so fun to see them love and care for my son, the way they did for me!
I’d also like to thank my husband, Andrew. The most supportive husband, who pushes me to be the best version of myself. He is my biggest cheerleader, my advisory staff after a loss, and the only person I would want to do this crazy life with.
