We had the good fortune of connecting with Britt Parr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Britt, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that my work doesn’t have to define my entire identity. As an entrepreneur—especially in a creative field like photography, it’s easy to blur the lines between who you are and what you do. For a long time, being a photographer felt like the core of me. But over the years, I’ve realized that while my business is deeply personal, it’s still just one part of a much fuller picture.

I’m also a mother, a wife, my husband owns a gym and I’m a big part of that as well . My life is made up of so many meaningful roles and experiences outside of photography. And that perspective has actually made my work even more intentional. Photography has been my business and creative outlet for over a decade, and I’ve come to understand that I can’t create just to please others. It has to come from a place of being authentic. At the end of the day, it’s art—an extension of me, not the definition of me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I always say, your vibe attracts your tribe—and that’s been the heartbeat of my business from the beginning. I started photographing couples when I left college and took a leap. I’ve moved my family across the country more than once, each time rebuilding in a new market, which brought its fair share of challenges. But through it all, I found a way to support my family doing something I love, even when I was backed into a corner, or so it felt.

What sets my business apart is that it’s built on connection. I’m not talking about constant, tell me every single thing about you connection. I don’t just show up to take photos. I’m a trusted third that wants people to feel seen and celebrated exactly as they are. My work is for the adventurous and the non-traditional. I don’t think those things always go hand in hand. I like to get weird.

I’m especially proud of the way my business continues to evolve with me. This year, I’ve returned to my roots—bringing film photography back in my life. Which is how I learned. I’ve also brought nostalgic Super 8 films into my collections There’s something beautifully imperfect and raw about working with film that digital just can’t replicate and with it making such a comeback, it’s fun to bring it back into my life from a professional standpoint.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned? Bet on yourself—even when it’s hard. I’ve backed myself into corners more than once, but it’s always led to growth. I’ve seen photographers skyrocket within a year of starting their business, but I’ve learned so much my way. It’s one of grit, adaptability, and love for what I do.

What I want people to know about me and my brand is that you just get pretty pictures.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We live in Colorado Springs and it’s very much known for being in the outdoors. We would go for a hike in North Cheyenne Cañon to the waterfalls and take a dip in the creek. We’d go to Dos Santos for tacos and margs. We’d do a coffee crawl to Story Coffee, Building 3, Switchback Coffee, Frankly and Kinship Landing for a great place to sit and hang. We’d walk through Garden of the Gods since it’s a 10 minute walk from my house. We’d go to SunWater Spa in Manitou Springs and soak in the cedar mineral tubs. We would definitely go to Night Ramen in downtown. It’s such a fun vibe.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband has always supported in pushing and encouraging me when I’ve needed it the most. My photography community has always recommended me, been a listening ear and ultimately the people I keep in my life are the ones that continue to support what I do.
