We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittainy Lynn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittainy, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be that filled with kindness and helping others. I also want people to remember me as a go-getter. I believe my purpose in life is helping other folks shine. Other people always see something in you that you don’t see yourself. Helping others in business and in general if fulfilling to me. I hope that when people think of me when I’m gone it truly brings a smile to their faces.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a social media manager and virtual/personal assistant at The Dope Cactus. I specialize in helping Black women in business focus more on money making goals while I handle their social media or administrative needs. I started a blog a few years ago & begin doing social media management for myself and thought maybe I could make this a side hustle. So I hit up my friends who also had businesses to run their pages to get some experience and here we are today.

The key thing we must all keep in mind in life is that rest is essential. Grind culture will burn you out. Success won’t come to your overnight so don’t rush the process. Baby steps are better than no steps at all. And as Michael Scott would say, Keep It Simple Stupid!

Under The Dope Cactus branch I started Let’s All Eat Sis. I wanted to uplift and highlight WOC in business. Most of whom I personally know. I wanted it to be a place where we can laugh and crack jokes AND share business ideas and get advice. It has kind of become a virtual space where I give to other women in business what Cecilia poured into me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I moved to Denver a little over a year ago during a pandemic so I haven’t been out much BUT I do have a few spots around town that I always suggest everyone check out:

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my dear friend and business partner, Cecilia Austin, who passed away last year. She always pushed me to pursue whatever ideas I had. If I failed, I failed but she’d ask me what I learned from that failure and to use it to be successful the next time. She was always telling me not to take jobs that fell below a certain amount. But on top of that every time we’d talk on the phone it was full of laughter and good times. As much as life is about business and making money it should also be about creating community. I hope that you all are blessed with a Cecilia in your life.
