We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittanie Williamson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittanie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I decided to create Reclamation Retreats because I wanted people to be able to experience the benefits of a retreat more easily. Typically, retreats are done in person, in a certain place, on a certain date, and it doesn’t always work for people.

I wanted to create something where someone can even just take their normal weekend from work and have their own retreat. They get to pick the time, the distance from their home, accommodation style, etc, and all of the meditations, practices, and ceremonies are designed for them.

I wanted retreats to be more accessible. I believe that we each need more time with ourselves, with nature, and to step away from our fast paced life sometimes. And, I believe it shouldn’t be hard.

The other aspect of my business is hosting in person women’s retreats. I just simply feel like the world is more powerful when women support each other. I wanted to create and hold space where women can fully express all parts of themselves, their love, sadness, rage, sensuality, etc.

The work I do really surfaced from me just thinking, what do I want more of in my life? The answer was time with nature, time to be present with myself, my soul, my body, and my mind. Time with Sister’s to feel connected and loved.

Really and truly, I think it is what we all need.

It hasn’t been an easy journey. It has been one of doubt, darkness, acceptance, gratitude, and a million other emotions and feelings. But, it all led me to know what my true passion is.

I want to help Women to remember that they are worthy, powerful, and seen.

My healing journey all began due to a rooted lack of self love and worth. I hated my body. I worked out a million times a day, obsessively eating, bingeing then restricting. There was a time I can remember that I never looked into the mirror and had anything good to say about myself.

I remember a time when no matter what I did, whether it was straight A’s, scoring a goal, or being an amazing employee, that I still didn’t feel good enough.

It breaks my heart remembering how I used to treat myself, and I know how common it is for most people to also think that way.

All I really want to do is help people remember to love themselves, all parts, and to be compassionate towards themselves.

The retreat designs, whether in person or guided, are all rooted in self love.

It is the greatest gift we can give ourselves, and others. When we truly love ourself, that is when we can truly love another.

During a vision quest, I was listening to Mother Gaia, one quote I will always remember is she said, “Until you honor yourself, honor itself cannot exist.” I found it to be so powerful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a nature lover more than anything, so I would take anyone who comes on some cool hikes. Horsetooth Rock is a favorite because after the hike we can go for a swim after. One day I would definitely take them stand up paddleboarding on Horsetooth as well!

Throughout the week I would also take them up the Poudre and into Red Feather for some nature time.

In town, I would take them to explore Old Town, and stop at Social for happy hour because their drinks are the best.

Other restaurants I would like to take them to is Blue Agave, The Still, Jessup Farmhouse, and of course stopping by all the breweries!

Breakfast at Lucielle’s and Cafe Bluebird, so basically we would be eating a lot.

If there were any cacao ceremonies, sound baths, group meditations, etc I would also love to take them to that.

We would also spend sometime nearby out near Estes and Rocky Mountain doing some day hikes as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout out to three amazing coaches who have supported me over the past few years, Jonathan Binder, Sandra Denise, and Emily Abbott. Each have inspired me in different ways to reach into the parts of me that were holding my deepest desires. All have been there and held me through anger, tears, celebrations, and exploration. I appreciate so much how they each helped me grow.
