Meet Brittany Maracine

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Maracine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk has always been a constant companion in my journey – not something to avoid, but something to understand and manage with intention. Early in my career, I worked in healthcare management, and I loved the sense of purpose it gave me but over time, I realized I wanted to make a broader impact. Making that shift into financial advice was one of the biggest risks I have ever taken. I left a stable and respected career to start from scratch in a completely different industry. But I saw it as an investment in a vision that aligned more closely with my strengths and values. That experience taught me that risk isn’t about recklessness – it’s about conviction. In finance, just like in life, risk and reward are inseparable. They key is preparation, perspective and purpose. If you’ve done your homework and your heart is in it, then taking a calculated risk can be the most p[powerful way to grow – both professionally and personally.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What was the thought process behind starting my own business?
I have been with my firm, Edward Jones, for just shy of 9 years.
Prior to opening my financial practice, I spent over 10 years on the business side of the long term care housing industry, in the Denver Metro area and frankly, I saw how few people plan well for the later years – to be able to live retirement by design.
I decided that I needed to be a part of the solution, and I pivoted over to financial advice and guidance to help make an impact with people, before it was too late.
How does your business help the community or the world?
Everyone should have strong financial goals. Regardless of if your family is more of a modest income or higher net worth. There’s a quote about the importance of setting goals: “If you don’t know where you’re going, any path will take you there.”
No matter what stage of your life you’re in — caring for children, working toward retirement or planning your legacy — unforeseen events like a job loss, a major illness or even a stock market drop could derail what you’re working so hard to achieve financially.
With your future at stake, you may want to get guidance from a financial professional who can develop a personalized financial strategy to help you navigate life’s curveballs.
Veteran financial advisors like me, provide so much more than just investment advice and provide invaluable insight to our clients. While I work with clients across North America, many of my clients – single people, couples, business owners – live in my direct community and so the impact is often hyper-local.
What is the most important factor behind your success as a career or brand?
Unexpected events are part of life. You can’t predict them, but you can prepare for them.
No matter what is going on around you, having a professional by your side can help set you up to navigate them confidently.
Most people visit their primary care physician annually, but they don’t hold themselves accountable to the same level of discipline when it comes to their finances.
Having a financial wellness ‘checkup’ at least once per year, should be a part of a healthy financial plan and when it comes down to it, people should ENJOY going to meet with their financial advisor! I would venture to say that that is single-handedly the most important factor behind my success as a financial advisor, is that I know my clients deeply. I know what emotions talking about money with them elicits, and I tailor our conversations around them.
I know what their goals are: short term and long term, just as importantly, what their fears or concerns are about their future or their children’s. Achieving financial stability doesn’t happen overnight — it takes a journey. My clients know that what’s important to them is most important to me. And that has been the foundation of my financial practice from the beginning.
What makes you happy and why?
What makes me truly happy is living a life that’s aligned with my faith, my family, and my purpose. My faith is the foundation of everything I do – it grounds me, gives me perspective, and remindser me that every day is an opportunity to serve others. I’m so grateful to share my life with my husband of 18 years and our three wonderful children, each of whom is carving their own path and fiunding success in their passions. Watching them grow into who they’re meant to be brings me indescribable joy. In my work, I find happiness in helping clients gain clarity and confidence in their financial lives. There’s something deeply fulfilling about guiding someone towards financial freedom and security – seeing the peace that comes from a solid plan. For me, happiness isn’t about having it all; it’s about gratitude, faith and using my gifts to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
If you are a parent what is the most important thing you have done as a parent, in terms of the impact on your children?
As a parent of three children, the most important thing I’ve done is to be intentional about modeling the values and habits I hope to see in them. My husband and I believe that character, integrity, and perseverance are the foundation for a meaningful life. We’ve worked to create a home where faith is central – and where our children know they are loved unconditionally, that grace is always available, and that their worth isn’t defined by achievements alone.
How do you know whether to keep going or to give up?
That’s such a powerful question, because I think everyone faces that moment – whether in business, relationships, or even parenting – when you wonder if the effort if still worth it. For me the key has always been clarity and purpose. I take a step back and ask myself why I started, what my gfoals are and whether those goals still align with who I am today. If the vision still excited me – even if the path feels hard – that’s my cue to keep going. But if I realize I’m holding on out of fear, pride or habit, then it may be time to pivot. I’ve learned that giving up and moving on aren’t the same thing. Sometimes, letting go is what allows you to grow. It’s the same philosophy I share with my clients: success isn’t about never stopping – it’s about knowing when to refocus your energy on what truly matters.
How has your work/life balance changed over time? How do you think about the balance?
Work-life balance has definitely evolved for me over the years – and I think that’s truer for most working parents. When my children were younger, balance often meant simply trying to keep all the plates spinning. Now that they’re older, with school, sports and social lives of their own, balance has become less about strict scheduling and more about intentional presence. I’ve learned that it’s not about giving equal time to everything, but giving focused energy to what matters most in that moment. When I’m with my family, I make a point to really be there – not half-thinking about work emails. And when I am with my clients, they deserve the same level of attention.
Over time, I’ve also realized that balance isn’t a fixed state, it’s something you constantly recalibrate as life shifts. Some seasons require more of me at home, others more at work. I give myself grace in those transitions and remind myself that the goal isn’t perfection; it’s fulfillment. Ultimately, I think balance comes from aligning your time with your values. My family keeps me grounded and my work allows me to model for my children what passion and purpose look like. That the kind of balance that truly sustains me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Erie, Colorado – a Denver metro suburb nestled between Boulder and Denver, is such a magical little town! It is growing rapidly and there is much to enjoy here year-round. Regardless of the season, of course we’d start by visiting some of the town’s great eateries, from classic comfort food spots to New American cuisine. If we’re feeling a bit more adventurous, we could go for Latin and Mediterranean cuisine, or choose modern Vietnamese cuisine! There’s an option for all tastebuds!
If the weather is nice, we would dine curbside on a patio on Briggs Street and watch all the fun passersby! We’d be sure to grab some homemade ice cream for dessert!
In the summer we’d stop by the weekly Thursday farmers market to browse the handmade goods and homemade treats and be sure to catch a Concert in the Park performance by local musical artists on Saturday. We’d be sure to visit the annual town fair where all of the locals come out to welcome the start of summer! And catch the much-anticipated hot air balloon launch and snag some great photo ops!
In the fall, we’d be sure to soak in the energy of the hometown high school football game and cheer on the Erie Tigers under the Friday night lights.
During the holidays, the downtown Erie parade is absolutely mesmerizing with Santa and his elves helping lead the way!
And since Erie if perfectly located just 15 minutes from both Boulder and Denver, we’d easily mix in a big few city adventures too!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As a parent of three children, the most important thing I’ve done is to be intentional about modeling the values and habits I hope to see in them. My husband and I believe that character, integrity, and perseverance are the foundation for a meaningful life. We’ve worked to create a home where faith is central – and where are our children know they are loved unconditionally, that grace is always available, and that their worth isn’t defined by achievements alone. This was instilled in me by my parents and I owe all of my success to the values they instilled in me as a young child, and the love they filled our home with. They have both passed on now but I’d be remiss to not shout them out as an integral part of my success!
