We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always loved taking photographs and documenting milestones in our lives but when our oldest son was born I knew time was fleeting. I wanted to learn to be able to document those precious early days myself so as each milestone passed I had a way to look back and all his firsts. Once I realized how much I loved being being the camera I branched out to photographing family and friends and found something so meaningful behind freezing those moments in time! It was then I slowly migrated to the idea of turning this passion into a business.
What should our readers know about your business?
The best thing about photography is, you never stop learning. There is always some new skill or trick to be acquired. Whether that be during a photo session or while editing. I found other photographers who I loved their work and invested in learning from them. I love stepping back and watching others work and I feel it’s so important for each of us to support each other in every way we can. Working with people can be a challenge but I feel like my years in the dental field have helped me connect with people – I also feel being a mom of three young boys allows me to work with other families and connect on another level. Is everything in this industry easy? Heck no. Do I love it, absolutely! It’s an industry that is always growing and changing and technology has changed leaps and bounds since I started my business. The biggest take away I want my clients to have are the memories with their sweet loved ones. Photographs are the one thing in life that grow in value with time. You never get that exact moment back with your children, spouse, fur babies etc.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not too much of a big crowd type of person but I do love to get out and about for an adventure! Our world revolves around our little ones right now, as do all our activities, but we love to take them for experiences, so we would go to an aquarium, zoo, any fun local festivals. We’d do some yummy BBQ food in the back yard, and spend some special time catching up.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give that credit to my wonderful husband. He’s supported me since the beginning. He bought me my very first camera and has encouraged me since day one to invest in myself and my education. He’s also the brave man who happily takes on bed time every evening I have a photoshoot with all 3 of our very young children. He’s a rockstar, a huge supportive of this big dream of mine and always one to finish the day with a bit of sarcasm.
