Meet Brittany Wild | Co-Owner & Founder of Way Finder Cleaning Services

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Wild and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Running and owning my own business was not something that I had ever imagined I’d be doing! However, when the opportunity knocked, I followed my heart to create a reliable trustworthy cleaning service in my hometown! Cleaning happened accidentally when a family friend and local contractor asked me if I’d clean a home. I immediately said yes! I continued to be offered many cleaning opportunities from referrals, building up my work schedule to seven days a week 6 to 10 hours a day. As a single parent, I welcomed all the opportunities for work. In the fall of 2018, I met Matthew Curtis. He saw the demand that I was receiving for my cleaning services and began coaching me on how to run my own small business. In early 2021, he decided to shift from his previous job to join Way Finder Cleaning Services full-time. Since then, our small business has grown into one of the most trustworthy cleaning companies in Estes Park.
I have worked as a teacher, a laboratory technician, and a quality/ regulatory manager. I enjoy the challenges and rewards of leading a team in having our own business. I love helping to enrich the lives of our team members with solid year-round work, opportunities for advancement, and a positive work environment. All of us at Way Finder Cleaning appreciate the ability to improve the quality of the lives of our clients. These are the things that drive me every day to be my best!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
When I started cleaning, I quickly found out from residents that there was a lack of quality reliable cleaners in Estes Park. This gave me a mission and a desire to do my best work and to be someone that people can depend on. When I could no longer do it all on my own, my 17-year-old son and my mother jumped in to help! It was around this time that I met my partner Matthew and hired my first employee to help. She was amazing and hard-working! She has now since moved on and started a small cleaning business of her own. It was with her help and our next hire that the three of us shared our love of cleaning and dedication to high standards with our community. Since then, we continued to hire and train our team members to bring this same level of reliable quality cleaning to all of our homes. We believe in developing our team members through continual training and supporting them with comfortable, flexible work culture and benefits! We are committed to helping our team be their best selves and to do their best work.
What I have learned is that having a business takes a lot of hard work! It is not easy; it has taken many long days and nights and it takes daily dedication to the mission to get the work done. My partner and I have had the business as one of the main focuses of our lives, along with family and relationships, for the past four years.
What I want people to know about my story is that for me, starting and running a business is driven by my love of people and a deep desire to make the world a better place. I feel that we aren’t just cleaning homes, we are changing lives. We bring not only our cleaning equipment and supplies to a home, but just a little bit of our magic to help the world be a better place. I also spend one on one time with each of our team members to ensure that they are a good fit and then we train, train, train! We use feedback as an opportunity for continuous improvement to sharpen our skills.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Estes Park is a gem of a town, not far from the valley cities of Colorado. There are many beautiful outdoor places that I like to visit. From hiking on any of the trails to just being, there is grandeur all around you. Nepal’s Café and Café De Pho Thai are my two favorite places to eat. For an indoor adventure, I gravitate to old historic spots like the old Park Theater and The Stanley Hotel, where we hold our yearly company holiday party and I have frequented since I was a little girl. My favorite entertainment is a magic show put on by Aiden Sinclair’s Underground at The Stanley Hotel.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First, l would like to mention that I never would have even dreamed that having my own business was possible without my business and life partner Matthew Curtis. He has shown me that anything is possible. He continually supports my dreams and encourages me to be my best every day. I’d also like to recognize my two sons who gave me purpose in life beyond my wildest dreams! They are the light in my life and my reason to be a better human. I come from a family of five children and the importance of community has always been a big deal for me. The love and support that I received from my parents throughout life have been a blessing on my path that I am forever grateful for!
Professionally, I have had incredible role models that have taught me invaluable skills that have helped me become who I am today. From a manager that I worked with that taught me to hire people for personality and train them for skill to Holly Vejrostek, who not only works her hardest to help her clients sell and buy the homes of their dreams but uses her influence to inspire the community that she has created around her with “pop-ups” of little gifts that she drops off at all of her client’s homes to the inspirational messages she puts in her social media. She truly helps make the world a better place.
I feel inspired by entrepreneurs and individuals that use their life work to make the world a better place, not just for them but for everyone around them!
