We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, how do you think about risk?
One thing about risks is that you may never be ready to take that risk. But when you take it you better go all in. That’s one of my greatest beliefs when betting on yourself. When taking a risk you take a chance on what you believe in and all bets are on you. I think in order to grow and scale into your business you have to be willing to take risks. Risks in my opinion define you in so many ways. In my career, I took a chance on myself in the middle of the pandemic. I quit my job and went all in with my skincare line and going to school. I enrolled in esthetics school shortly after launching my skincare line. I wanted to have a deeper knowledge of skincare and give my clients the best of the best. I chose that if I continued to wait it would never be a good time and I would always find an excuse of why not? If you don’t put it all in then what are you really living for?

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from many others I believe is my willingness to take risks when my back is against the wall. I was told there are too many beauty brands and too many estheticians. Hearing that I won’t grow in an oversaturated market. It wasn’t easy as I thought it would be.

During that time I was a new mom, running a business, and going to esthetic school. I set a goal and made a plan for where I needed to be. I followed that plan and executed it. I believed there was a market for skincare for african american and people of color in general. I challenged myself to define my brand to get results for my clients.

How I got here professionally by truly researching ingredients and studying the chemistry behind how products are made. I wanted to know how I can best serve my clients and give them the right products for their skin type. This road definitely wasn’t easy. I hit a lot of bumps in the road with developing my skincare line as well as being a licensed esthetician.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned would be you are what you put in your mind. That means what you say to yourself, what you listen to, and who you listen to. You need to surround yourself with people who speak positivity to you. Not only the people but you need to speak to yourself the same way. Another would be the struggle is only temporary it’s not forever.

I want you all to that at Simply Skyn Esthetics I strive to give you back the better version of yourself. I know how hard it is and discouraging it can be when your skin isn’t what it used to be. I repair and restore confidence within women and men. Often times when you have an issue with your skin, such as dryness, dehydration, acne, and hyper pigmentation you hyper fixate on those imperfections of your skin and at times it can take a toll on you . That’s where I come in and I restore that confidence.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had my best friend in town and I wanted to show them the best time ever for us we would definitely have to have brunch at Mimosas. Since we love to go on a good hike we would experience the Rocky Mountains in Estes Park hit a few trails and have a late lunch at my favorite spot there Penelope’s Old Time Burgers. Y’all if you haven’t tried there you don’t want your missing. We would definitely visit some museums which are a total must Selfie, Meow Wolfe, Denver Art Museum, etc. Garden of the Gods is my go-to show friends around. I can’t wait to explore of Colorado myself.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I know this may sound so cliche but my family has been a complete support system in my success. They pushed me when I had trials in my career. They spoke life into me when I felt like I wasn’t where I needed to be. My dearest friends for being there to offer their services to bring to me the next level. Tempest Amerson at Tempest Amerson Photography. Tylandra Tate at Soigne Slay as Beauty Creative Director, and I have so many more to be so thankful for. Those women have really poured into my success in photography, styling, love, and encouragement.
