Meet Bruklin Womack | Esthetician & Virtual Assistant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bruklin Womack and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bruklin, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I started virtual assistance this year but began my true journey as an entrepreneur in 2018 when I became an esthetician. Last year, I ended up in a pretty hard spot financially and I had to put my dream of being an esthetician on hold in order to give myself a life. I started my virtual assistance business so I could use the skills I have to make a living. My plan has always been to go back to esthetics, I never planned on quitting that dream. This is just my plan B, which is a plot to make plan A work.
I wouldn’t encourage anyone to give up. Sometimes, we experience burn out or go through phases of procrastination. This is a normal human reaction when we work hard and wait for the results we want. Staying the course is a part of the mission so quitting CAN’T be a part of your vocabulary. You may want to give up but remember, there’s someone out there that’s working harder than you, waking up earlier than you, utilizing their time better than you are, etc. Pay attention to your body and your mind, if you find yourself working for something that is draining you both physically and mentally, it may be time to think about what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. Who are you helping? How would you impact those people if you quit now? This is an important step in being an entrepreneur because when you have a solid “why” behind your work, those long days and nights are worth it because you know the reward waiting for you in the end.
What should our readers know about your business?
I offer virtual assistance to beauty businesses. I’ve recently niched down to beauty businesses because of my experience as an esthetician. I help these businesses with social media posts, copywriting, email management, and admin tasks. My business is different from others because of the experience and education I have in the beauty industry. Personally, I have yet to see someone like me make this kind of switch and really dedicate themselves to helping other beauty professionals become as successful as possible.
Starting this business has been anything but easy for me. Like any other service-based business, finding clients has been a challenge in the past and sometimes, sales of my digital products are slower than I’d like but I stay motivated by reminding myself daily who I’m doing this for and why I’m doing it. This keeps me grounded and motivated. These struggles have taught me to be patient. I’ve also come to recognize that how you do one thing, is how you do everything. I’ll stay just as motivated when no one is watching as I am when I am busy and sales are through the roof.
I want the world to know that I truly enjoy what I do. I love the creativity I can use to create things my clients love. My goal is to motivate as many people as possible and to help dozens of my peers get organized and spread their brand awareness
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would first have to take my friend to my favorite mezcal bar, Ghost Donkey for an El Cumino and some chicken mole nachos. I love a good rooftop so we would have to make our way to Tap Fourteen for a good view and some more drinks. One of my favorite things to do with friends that from other cities is to get their feet on the ground and show them the city as a pedestrian. Walk around downtown Denver, show them Sloan’s lake and other places that are important and to me beautiful to view,
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My close friends, family, and partner are my biggest supporters. When I have ideas I’m unsure of, I can always ask them for their advice and opinions. Each of them provides unique ideas that give insight from the perspective of a potential client/reader. I know I wouldn’t be as successful as I am without all of them.
