Meet Calynn Rose | Artist, painter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Calynn Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Calynn, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business came from when I first started painting on records about two years ago. The paintings were popular on social media and I decided to take it further. I love to paint on used items such as records and cds. This process repurposes forgotten vinyls and cds and transforms them into works of art.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My artwork is a collection of paintings on vinyl records, cds and canvas. I love to work with all types of paint and even make my own homemade paint. The process of creating my own paint creates a relationship to the paint and the artwork it is used on. My artwork is unique because I love to repurpose forgotten items and transform them into something beautiful once again. This effort also is to help reduce waste and to recycle forgotten items. Most of my inspiration comes from my beautiful home state, Colorado. I love to paint colorful impressionistic landscapes. I also have a love for painting pets and animals. To get to where I am today professionally, it took a significant amount of effort and relentlessness. The key to success is believing in yourself. Calynn Rose Art is about repurposing old forgotten items into new works of art.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A few of my favorite spots in the wonderful city of Denver are Urban Putt, Meow Wolf, and the Denver Art Museum. Urban Putt is a Colorado themed put put golf arena. This place is so much fun and their drinks are amazing. Meow Wolf is an immersive art experience that everyone should go to. The Denver Art Museum is interesting because it gives insight on historical art pieces. Some of my favorite places to eat in Denver are Meta Burger and City O’ City. Both of these places are vegan and have great options for everyone. Another must see in Colorado is the Rocky Mountains. The mountains are incredible and such a magical experience.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my supportive family. My family gives me endless support for my art career, my mom especially. Without the support from my family, I do not think I would still be pursuing art as a career.
