We had the good fortune of connecting with Camilla Castro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Camilla, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always had a great love for all dogs. Coming home to my dog, Luna, is one of the highlights of my day. When I moved to Denver about 6 years ago, I stumbled upon working at a dog walking company named “Poop In a Group.” I worked there for about 3 years until “Poop In a Group ” relocated to California. I built many relationships with my clients and their dogs where I decided to start my own dog walking company. Now officially named, “Paws on the Peak.” It’s been about 2 years in the making. We also take 2 hour hikes through Mt. Falcon, Elk Meadow Park and more where I can enjoy my two favorite things: Dogs & Hiking.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Ever since I was little, I knew I would revolve my life around animals in some way. They bring a joy in my life that is just indescribable. When I created Paws on the Peak I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a corporate feeling but more of a family feeling. Not only do we take your dogs on a hike or walk but we also make sure to give your kitty all of the love while you’re away too. If your pet needs a ride to the vet or needs to be transported to a friend, we are there for you! We even do overnights and send you very cute pictures of them having the best time ever! No matter what the case is I guarantee your pet will be happy, healthy and comfortable with Paws on the Peak.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were to visit Denver, Colorado we would definitely start out with a nice hike in the mountains! Thankfully when you are in Denver there are a ton of options to go hiking that are under 30 minutes. Since I am also from New Jersey, I always loved my Philly cheesesteaks so we would definitely have to grab a cheesesteak at Denver Teds too. They are probably hands down the closest thing to a Philly cheesesteak that Denver has to offer! If the weather is nice, a good paddle boarding trip to Soda Lake Beach would be perfect. You can also bring your pup there to go on the paddle board with you or just play in the water.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My previous boss Shannon was my inspiration. I worked with her for over 3 years and learned a lot when I was by her side working for “Poop In a Group.” I also want to thank all the families and their fur babies that have supported my small business, without you I couldn’t be where I am today.
