Meet CannaBuffs | Cannabis Club of CU Boulder

We had the good fortune of connecting with CannaBuffs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi CannaBuffs, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
While Colorado was the first state to legalize recreational cannabis consumption in the U.S., it is clear that there is an absence of education surrounding the industry on the CU Boulder campus. This sparked our interest in establishing CannaBuffs. We noticed a vast interest in cannabis education, our peers were eager to learn more but did not have an avenue to expand their horizons. This needs to be a continuous conversation fostered in and around the Boulder community.

CannaBuffs aims to educate our members on the plant and its properties. This focus relates to cultivation, consumption, business, law, medicine, and social equity. Through meaningful community connection, we hope to reduce the stigma surrounding cannabis and foster open expression. Most of all, we want to provide opportunities for students by bridging the gap between employers and the emerging workforce. CannaBuffs will become future cannabis leaders.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The exciting part about establishing CannaBuffs is that we are just getting started! Seeing the potential impact this club can have on the Boulder community paired with excitement amongst students and industry professionals is ever-inspiring. We are ecstatic to introduce a network dedicated to research, social innovation, and entrepreneurship. CannaBuffs coordinates weekly meetings where we host guest speakers, facility tours, and industry mixers. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout Snoop Dogg & Martha Stewart, amongst many others, for bringing cannabis into the mainstream. All jokes aside, we’d like to honor the hardworking people who are responsible for paving the way for the next generation of cannabis entrepreneurs: Legacy growers, family farms, legalization advocates, and those that have been negatively affected by the war on drugs.
