We had the good fortune of connecting with Carter Chimes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carter, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by everyday life and the way it can be ever changing at any given moment. Anything from a photo, video, song, emotion, or conversation can be a spark to be inspiring for me. Which in turn gives me subjects to write about to help my creative process.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Similar to other artists and their art, my creations are a part of myself, and a reflection of my experiences of life. Some things that set me apart from others, is a big picture mindset I attempt to keep while experiencing life’s moments. Sometimes It’s easy to let the good times pass you by without noticing in the moment. When I am able to capture those moments in my music, that’s when it makes me most proud. Getting to where I am today has had a fair amount of challenges, and I’m sure to face more of them in the future, I wouldn’t have been able to make it here without the support of my family, friends, and colleagues, and I know they will have my back moving forward. I’ve learned along the way that there is not just one way to accomplish a goal. I want the world to know that there’s always a way to connect and I’m happiest when I am able to relate with people through art and life experience on this incredible earth we live on.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, the first thing we would have to do to get an idea of the local culture would go to Downtown Pueblo. With the Arkansas river walk, street musicians, and so many great eating places, Pueblo’s downtown makes it a great atmosphere to hang out. If we get hungry we can grab a bite and listen to some live music at Brue’s Alehouse Bar and Venue. Next, to get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors, we could venture to Pueblo city park where they have one of the top rated frisbee golf courses in the state. On one of the sunny mornings, we can’t forgot to get some fishing in along the Arkansas river. Pueblo might not be the biggest city in Colorado but it does have a lot of character and culture, and I’m proud to call it home.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give an enormous shoutout to my family. My fam has always been my biggest supporter in my craft. Starting with my Great Gram signing me up for a profesional Children’s Chorale in my elementary school days, to my parents encouraging me and helping me with my musical instruments from then on. There was never a time where I felt like I couldn’t do something more with my art. I credit my family a big deal for that. I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
