Meet Casey Poe: Brand Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Casey Poe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Casey, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I can’t remember when or where I was when I first heard the quote, “I’d rather have a life of ‘oh wells’ than a life of ‘what ifs'” but that simple phrase has guided all of my risky decisions. Sometimes the risk was worth the reward, sometimes it ended up being a valuable learning experience. I look back at the “failures” with gratitude because I had the courage to take a risk.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My brand photography company, Elegant Adventure Photo, where I work with adventurous entrepreneurs and executives to help them tell their story. There are so many entrepreneurs and executives who are fully embracing the work hard play hard motto. Yet the personal brand they are sharing on social media and/or LinkedIn isn’t telling their full story causing them to miss out on creating an instant connection with future clients. The typical corporate headshot with arms crossed in a suit isn’t going to cut it anymore, we crave authenticity. This is how brand photography is unique. Before we even start planning the photoshoot my clients get homework, the brand questionnaire. I know, I know. Homework is the worst. But I promise it’s worth the time/effort. The brand questionnaire dives deep into their brand/business goals, life dreams, and personal passions which helps me map out a unique vision for the photoshoot.   

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would for sure hike some of my favorite trails, do a sunrise workout at Red Rocks, and definitely spend at least one night in a tent! To reward all of our adventuring a food and brew (coffee & beer) tour including Just BE Kitchen, Denver Beer Co., and Copper Door Coffee Roasters would also be on the itinerary. 

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband deserves the LOUDEST shoutout of all. He is my biggest cheerleader, is always willing to brainstorm with me, and asks me the tough questions when I need it.
