We had the good fortune of connecting with Cephas Talbot and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cephas, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I think as I have been blessed enough to grow my artistry and achieve some of my goals I have put more focus on developing a work life balance that focuses a little less on just making art every waking moment on the day. I guess I have learned the importance of taking a moment to “smell the roses” as one would say and that has really stimulated my creative growth and ability to come up with new ideas constantly.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Like most artist I think my art embodies a lot of my personality traits, whether it be my love for all things technological or my interest in Japanese culture I try to add a bit of my own core style to everything I touch. I believe that developing this aspect into my art early on allowed me to more easily create my own voice within my art. I definitely wouldn’t use the term easy to describe my journey thus far, but it has been very rewarding and quite interesting if I do say so myself. I think one of the biggest lessons that I have learned along the way is that ones artistic journey is not about perfectionism, but really about exploring oneself and learning to take on new challenges with an open mind. The one thing that I would like the world to know about my art is that is truly an exchange of energy to the person viewing it, based on Einsteins theory of relativity energy can’t be created or destroyed but only passed, so the energy that I put into my art is really a gift that I am passing on to the viewers and consumers of this art, (…did I mention that I love science..)

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My list of must see spots… 1. Atomic Cowboys (the pizza and atmosphere say it all) / Denver Biscuit Company 2. Redline Contemporary Art Museum 3,Mutiny Coffee shop and Bookstore 4. 7Twenty Board shop 5. Akihabara Arcade and Bar 6. Denver Botanical Garden 7. Redrocks (preferably in the summer) 8. Loveland Pass 9. The Source 10. Edgewater Public Market Im still missing quite a few, but I guess you’ll just have to hang out with me and see the rest of my hidden gems lol (that sounds a little suggestive but…) The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This may seem a bit cliche, but I really oh a majority of my success to my parents specifically my mother Cheryl Talbot, both of my parents always pushed my boundaries as a creative individual and allowed me the freedom to think outside of the box even from a young age. I distinctly remember my parents catering to my needs in terms of curiosity as a child which is a trait that hasn’t left as I traverse my adult years as a member of society. I would also like to take a moment to recognize Austin Kleon author of “Steal Like an Artist.” This piece of literature really helped jump start the earlier stages of my career and gave me tools that allowed me to really hone my creative skills.
