We had the good fortune of connecting with Chantel Mohar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chantel, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from Denver! I’m first generation Cuban American. Both my parents came from Cuba when they were younger with nothing but the clothes on their back. They came from a terrible government that took everything they had and this was the land of opportunity, truly. They built the lives that they wanted out of sheer determination. My dad was an engineer but eventually started his own businesses and I remember from the time I was very young knowing and thinking and hoping and wishing that I, too, will one day work for myself. So all my life, no matter what job I was in or what schooling I took, I always knew in the back of my head that I would work for myself one day. And here I am today. I own my own lash studio, Live Love Lash and Aesthetics LLC. I am determined and hard-working but free-spirited. I love creating customized eyelash extensions styles and talking to clients as I work on their lashes. I also offer scar and stretch mark revision and have recently added a whole separate business supplying coaching with the use of Crystal singing bowls. I just love creating a space where women feel heard and seen and beautiful

What should our readers know about your business?
My first career of my adult life was actually respiratory therapy! After about 5 years, I decided to leave it behind in the search of something more creative and honestly, light-hearted. However, I’ve always been in the business of helping people. As I got into Beauty and aesthetics I came out the other side realizing that I had a love for specifically doing eyelash extensions. It’s very tedious work and can be very difficult. It was very difficult in the beginning to fight with the amount of time it takes and the minuscule work of the hands. But it was immediately rewarding; after a couple of hours these women would sit up and look in the mirror and thank you for making them feel beautiful and confident. In the meantime, while creating their look, I would really get to know these women as they told me what was going on in their days and lives. It’s a common joke that I double as their therapist. This of course, led into my passion for hearing others and helping them work through their problems and so I turned to coaching. I offer mindfulness coaching. Mindfulness coaching allows you to use tools to calm the nervous system and look at life’s difficulties from an objective point of view. During these sessions, I use singing bowls to align their nervous system so that we can then dive deeper into their upsets. I work specifically with women because growing up, I was always surrounded by boys and making a connection with other girls and women was always difficult. Women have been often brought up to be very competitive with each other. But women have a very unique place in life and we can only truly be understood through each other. As I got older, I came to realize that many other women also had this difficulty in creating a connection with other women and I wanted to create this safe space for women to be heard. So many women have been taught to be quiet and nice and never speak up for themselves and that’s something that is changing and needs to change.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Especially now in the summertime, Colorado is such a fun and exciting place, with so much to do. I would begin the week while most people are off at work with a day spent tubing the Saint Vrain River. There’s a great spot through the city of Longmont where the river is mild and great to tube down. The next day maybe we would go up the canyon a little bit to spend some time in the mountains themselves along the same river. Midweek, there are often many opportunities for sound baths in the area. A sound bath is a cozy event where you wear comfortable clothing and bring blankets and pillows to a location and are “bathed” in sound. This is one of the many things I offer with my crystal singing bowls I previously mentioned. It’s always fun to attend someone else’s and do the relaxing myself! So we could then head into the city of Boulder and attend one of these events. Walking Pearl Street before or after is a great way to enjoy some dining and shopping in the foothills of the Rocky mountains. Before heading into the weekend, we could head out to the many reservoirs available from the most southern to the most northern edges of Denver and spend a few hours paddle boarding. Colorado is known for our green chili and there are so many great places to choose from, but we would definitely have to go to breakfast at Santiago’s. In my opinion, they have some of the best green chili around and when it’s smothered over a breakfast burrito, there’s nothing better. They’re also a local chain, started and ran within the same family for many years. Each individual restaurant is owned by a different family member. Before it got super busy for the weekend, we would have to head down to the Cherry Creek Mall for some really great shopping. Once we hit the weekend we would definitely have to hit downtown Denver with its variety of bars and restaurants. There’s so many options to spend our time walking from place to place like LoDo and Larimer Square. One of the newest and most fun bars currently trending is Wonder Yard. It’s beautifully decorated, with amazing cocktails and a really fun outdoor area. Denver has a ton of amazing street taco spots but while downtown, Mexico City for the tacos and La Diabla for authentic pozole are an absolute must.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would obviously love to mention my mom and dad and even the rest of my extended family for making me who I am today. I feel like they always taught me love and support and integrity and gave me a sense of belonging.
