Meet Chelsea Husum | President, American GPR & Coring

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Husum and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chelsea, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe the most important factor behind our company’s success is my employees. They are fantastic people, and they are experts at what they do. They take pride in their work, and we strive to provide excellent customer service and care about the people we work with and what we do. I might get us on a job site, but the technicians are the ones who build and foster the relationships with our clients in the field. We want to be our best each day, both in operations and in the field and we partner with our clients to consult with them, so each job goes as smooth as possible. Another reason for our success is that we have a very close team and we have fun and laugh together! It is wonderful when you enjoy who you work with and what you do!

What should our readers know about your business?
I love how we started as a tiny company in the Denver market and have grown exponentially each year. We truly work with the best companies and they partner with us because we take care of them and our employees are experts in the field and they appreciate that. Growing this business was not easy and I don’t think owning or scaling a business truly ever is. But it was absolutely worth it! You never get anywhere worth going in life without overcoming adversity and struggle. I’ve learned that you can work really hard and learn and grow and build something successful. I learned early on to surround myself with people who are successful and driven and learn everything you can from them. I learned to ask for help and advice from fellow business owners so I can grow from their knowledge. We wanted to be a different kind of company. One who you can tell they care and enjoy their work, with a heavy focus on great customer service and getting the job done well and timely. We do things our own way and our customers enjoy our culture and service.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live and operate my company out of Castle Rock, CO and I adore the small town vibe in the downtown area. There are always festivals or things to do for families in town, and it’s fun to hop from restaurant to restaurant. We also love the Highlands in Denver since we used to live there. It has so many cute shops and places to visit! There’s so many great hiking areas and places to get outdoors and enjoy nature as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people who have encouraged and supported me throughout the years and various stages in life. My family. My women colleagues in the construction industry, who are out owning businesses and thriving. Our clients who support us and partner with us. My tribe of women in life who inspire me and make me feel seen and supported. My incredible employees. I’m very fortunate to be surrounded by positive driven people and they are why I am where I am in life today.
